Although there are translators for other programs they only import as dumb solids, no history. You can export as stp and import into Fusion but if you want editable designs with full history you'll have to start from scratch.
You can export from Fusion and save as f3d files as long as there are no linked parts in external designs. If you have linked designs you can export from the Dashboard in Chrome and save as an f3z file. Working with offline files does not work as smoothly as most other programs though. If you have a problem\dislike of using the cloud Fusion might not be for you.
Not to bring up an old subject, but.... we are in the decision making process on how much we want to utilize F360. Currently, we're using Alibre (geomagic)/BobCAD and are looking to change to a better CAM software. Really like what we see with F360 from a modeling/CAM perspective, but the 2D drawings side of things is a real let-down. There is so much missing from it still, (it's now 2020 and this thread is four years old). The 2D drawing tools in Alibre are leaps and bounds beyond what F360 is capable of. We would really "like" to be all-in on F360, but after a month of weighing the pro's and con's, we just cant talk ourselves into switching to F360 for modeling/2D drawing. It sucks because you loose the link between CAD/CAM. Oh well, maybe someday the improvements to the F360 2D drawing envirionment will be improved, but even after watching a Youtube video from Autodesk last week about 2D drawings improvements, there really isn't enough or anything that "great" to even reconsider.
Sadly, it was before its time and Alibre, Inc. chose to focus more on solids modeling than collaborate design. Alibre Design still had a robust set of geometry creation tools, especially for the price, but in the modeling features race it was far behind.

Alibre Design (formerly Geomagic Design from 3D SYSTEMS Inc.) is developed by Alibre LLC USA as an efficient 3D mechanical design CAD software, with powerful features specific to 3D mechanical CAD design and drafting:
The software is a new suite of affordable CAD design solutions, delivering comprehensive and robust mechanical CAD design tools, enabling ideas to go from concept to manufacturing and production for professional engineers, students, consumers, hobbyists and makers.
Geomagic - which was acquired by 3D Systems in February 2013 - produces products that deliver 3D Systems' commitment to democratise access to intuitive and advanced solutions that are outstanding both as standalone CAD design suites and as seamless additions to any multi-CAD environment.
Alibre Design is a 3D parametric computer aided design (3D CAD) software suite developed by Alibre for Microsoft Windows. Available in fifteen languages. Alibre is a brand of Alibre, LLC, a company based in Texas.
Founded in 1997, Alibre began working closely with Microsoft in 1998 to develop the first web-based collaborative 3D design environment.[2] The environment operated on a web-browser and allowed multiple users to work on the same design simultaneously. Following this development, Alibre received a patent for "System and method for solid modeling," protecting their technologies for generating 3D geometries across a high bandwidth, distributed network.[3] Alibre's purported aim in this development was to give businesses a cost-effective way to geographically distribute teams by enabling networked design environments without incurring large capital expenditures.[4]
Alibre Design is based on the ACIS modeling kernel from Spatial, and a 2D and 3D constraint solving system from Siemens PLM, among other technologies.[5] It allows users to create modeled representations of concepts to facilitate design and manufacturing, with 2D and 3D functionality. Parametric solid modeling is driven by intelligent dimensions, meaning that the software automatically recomputes designs to accommodate changes to a single dimension, thereby maintaining the design's dimensional accuracy without necessitating manual adjustment of each dimension.[6]
The price may seem a little high, but compared to other CAD software packages it's a bargain. I have the expert version because it includes sheetmetal design. Turning a 3D bent part into a flat pattern with the press of a button makes life so much easier.
The best way to ensure continued use, and get access to new features, is to get back on maintenance and get the newest version, which uses the new licensing mechanism. To do this, you can reach out to he...@alibre.com, call 877-7-ALIBRE, or reach out to your Value Added Reseller if you are outside the US or Canada.
Geomagic Design 3D is an incredibly easy-to-use and learn 3D CAD system for mechanical design, comparable to products like SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER or Inventor, but costs thousands less. The software has integrated tutorials and live support, so it's easy to be productive quickly. Read more...

The article presents STL files parameters analysis of theselective geometrical objects. The examinations included STL models receivedfrom reverse engineering (RE) process and CAD modeling. During the reverseengineering process were used methods like: computer tomography and laserscanning. The investigations were carried out on assortment virtual models ofreal objects: cranium, turbocompressor rotor. The paper presentspossibilities of acquisition and processing data from RE process. The articlealso clarified the CAD model export of the machine elements with complexshapes: rotor blade of air engine, turbocompressor rotor, and gear-wheel. Theprogramme data processing was as well prepared for virtual models and figuresdesigned for entertainment industry, e.g. computer games. The parametersinfluence on files exporting from chosen CAD programs as well as STL filesparameters influence on physical model accuracy received from rapidprototyping methods were also explained. Recommendations as to the accuracyof a STL model have been presented.
