Hi All

I read this with mild interest... until I read who wrote it ... not your typical extremist writer...

Dr. Roberts was Assistant Secretary U.S. Treasury, Associate Editor Wall Street Journal, Columnist for Business Week, Senior Research Fellow Hoover Institution Stanford University, and William E. Simon Chair of Political Economy in the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Washington, D.C

In an interview about the article, Roberts said he tried for years to reach people with facts and figures and hoped some fictional reality would work better.  When asked if anything could be done to stop it, he responded "not at this rate."

Enjoy

cheers
Mitch

Mitch are we to become warlords or carefully organised clans?

I hope for the latter.

Cheers

Have started to think though a list of foods we need as essentials.

How are we going to make sure we have supplies – we need to start planning and planting with a clear strategy in mind.

Who can plant what ?

Backup plans for crop failure, methods of sustainable storage etc etc

Proteins, Fats, Carbohydrates, mineral and vitamins – nutrient dense foods.

Example: easily available protein is derived from eggs – who keeps chooks, what do we need to feed them?

What about other sources of protein – who will be brave enough to slaughter a chook if you like to eat chicken??

I think these are questions some of us have never had to face?

Do we grow grains here on the Sunshine Coast? Can we grow grains? Which ones?

How can we produce oil? Macadamia, or Olive?

When are we planning our next TT meeting?

Hi Eta

I guess I am not thinking in quite that way. Not making detailed plans like that... just thinking strategically about land (when land prices fall more) and how to have some service or products to sell or barter that will be in demand.

Derek and I are not strongly motivated right at the moment to organise a meeting but if you would like to ... and can host it or find a venue such as a cafe etc. I'd be very happy to help promote it.

warmest regards
Mitch

Hi Mitch,

Possibly towards the end of September.

Too much on the go right now.
