Help!!

Hi, Newbie to Buddycloud, I'm using the rest api to build a web app in GWT with a social component, everything is fine, BuddyCloud is awesome. However I'm stuck with the upload of files, The api description specify a payload with a json which has included a field of data with the bytes of the file i want to upload. Also i has found a description of the need of a xmpp component for authentication. At this point and after many attemps of uploading the file from the client using html5, in base64, in blob, etc, I'm still getting 400 status code "Bad Request". I'm suspecting now that i have to setup a proxy for my app so the request to the api cames from the server and not the client.

Questions

1 - What kind of encoding is needed to include the bytes in the json string?

2 - An explanation of using a xmpp component for authentication exists in the github rep for the mediaserver code. Is this strictly necessary??(I have the requirement of only use the rest api in the app)

3 - In general: What are the steps to achieve the uploading of files to the api??
If you can provideme any examples on the complete proccess... That would be awesome.

Thanks for the detailed post. 

Just a quick reply before anyone else is online and can help in more detail: we're having issues with the media server in our hosted environment (https://github.com/buddycloud/buddycloud-media-server/commit/2bd4f95fcc57ee0c585321a7284c665ae319eebd). 

I'm going to assume you are doing everything right and the problem is on the backend. To fix this, @Guilherme (cc'd) is looking at this since it's causing lots of problems right now. 

As soon as we have a working fix (hopefully later today), I'll ping you back with an update.
