"King of Thieves" (Ògúndábède) tells the tale of the renowned town and prosperous kingdom of Ajeromi. Life in Ajeromi was thriving, with peace and prosperity reigning supreme. However, the tranquility of the kingdom was disrupted when Agesinkole, a formidable bandit and terrorist, arrived to unleash terror upon its people.

Buoyed by voice-over narrative, the story is narrated with precision. It opens in an art gallery, where we see a lady gazing fascinatingly at a painting of a treacherous-looking man on a horse. The gallery curator (played by Segun Arinze) walks to the lady and asks if she would like to hear a story about the painting. The lady agrees and the story begins.

The leader of the group stops to shoot a human head prodding out of the ground, a look-alike of his own before speeding off. In a subsequent scene, we see three men buried with their heads sticking out of the earth.

Before he became the menacing bandit leader, Ageshinkole was a calm young man named Adeoye who was vying for the position of community king. He was betrayed and framed by some elders he trusted to help him win the kingship position. He and his best friend were exterminated. Their spirits reincarnated and they transcend the bounds of human potential and physical ordinances to wreak havoc on the community.

King of Thieves is a movie of deceit and vengeance, humility and arrogance, and a morally grey society that takes pride in brutally punishing petty thieves but cannot see that the son of a usurper became king under their noses or that his wife is a witch. Agbesinkole is terrorizing the entire village, stealing from traders and travelers, kidnapping the villagers. The king is furious, the chiefs are confused and the villagers are scared. All attempts to defeat the very powerful enigma, his sidekick and his band of robbers prove abortive. Enter Oguntade, an accomplished hunter with the sharp-mouthed wife who is doomed to face this notorious criminal as punishment for a crime he committed to save his wife. His deadly encounter with Agbesinkole takes us back to a very unfortunate flashback which brings us to the conclusion that jungle justice is not the best way to punish petty thieves. A person who steals food stole it because he/she is hungry. Go and face those ones who are looting what belongs to the country with impunity.

If "Hermother's Daughter" isn't talking about something she is passionate about, then she's writing it. She is always in her head space, majorly thinking about what to cook or bake (to be frank, eat).

King of Thieves also shines in its casting department, with outstanding performances coming from Odunlade Adekola (Oba Adegbite Tadenikaro), Ibrahim Chatta (Oguntade), Femi Adebayo (Ageshinkole), Toyin Abraham (Queen Mobonuola), veteran Dele Odule (Otun) and, in particular, Lateef Adedimeji (Abegunde), who continues to shine in supporting roles and seems capable of regularly taking on bigger characters.
