I have done a little searching but haven't been able to come up with anywhere that you can buy Mexican or Spanish food ingredients. Does anyone know of anyplace in or near Budapest to buy these types of foods?

Thank you!

Tesco has an international foods section. The selection isn't very good, but you can usually buy tortillas and such. Culinaris also carries some Mexican ingredients.

I don't know of any dedicated stores, though...

What are you looking for exactly in terms of Mexican ingredients?

I have had some luck at Culinaris in Pest. I bought really good chorizo (mind you Spanish, not Mexican chorizo) there last week. I've also purchased chipotle chiles in adobo. I've found it impossible to buy corn tortillas here, they just do not seem to exist. Flour tortillas can be purchased many places, I buy them at my local Match store.

In terms of spices there is a spice shop in the bottom of Mammut's food market that sells many food spices and some Mexican foods odds and ends. They are very helpful and they speak English.

Cheers,
Hilary.

Well mainly I was looking for a place that would sell corn husks, and Mesa. For making tamales. But we love any variation of that food so any info is helpful. Thanks again!

Hi,

Culinaris has had Mesa in the past, and they can also order stuff in. I have not seen corn husks there though.

You can find masa harina corn tortillas at the Asian market that used
to be in the basement of the big market at the end of Vaci (it's now
on the street right next to the market and is a much larger shop) -
just bought some the other day! They seem to have a lot of other
Mexican canned goods (La Costena) as well. Maybe they also have what
you're looking for...

Good luck!

Hi Florenda,
The best place to buy mexican ingredients is the Azsia bolt next to
the central market (Nagyvasarcsarnok). They have frozen corn tortillas
that are not bad, at all.
