In short, I didn't have any papers ready before the birth and it was NO problem, so don't worry :-)
I gave birth at Telki Hospital (where they helped us with papers) and we had the polgarmesteri in the town Telki (think it's called that), an official office that registers births, to do it.
You have to bring a translator with you. But the woman there had the papers ready and we signed on the spot. 2-3 weeks later the paternity papers/birth registration came by post with a courier.
All in all a very smooth process.
