Hi all,
I am finishing up a project of additional English lessons and resources that will be provided for students at a downtown (distric VII) minority school. The children there are bilingual speakers of Hungarian/Serbian of ages 3-19 and as such require additional help in learning English as foreign language in two ways - for a number of them their bilingualism provides an extremely advanced starting point for learning other foreign languages and they need extra lessons and specially designed teaching materials that take advantage of their bilingual nature. For a separate group of students in this school there is a need for a different kind of extra help because often they are coming to this school from rural areas and places where their previous experiences with learning English in school were substandard. Their socioeconomic situation in most cases prevents them and their parents from being able to afford extra tutoring or attending private language schools. This is something that unfortunately is not recognised by the state educational system, and has until now been a problem that the school had no resources to resolve on its own.
The project I am working on is about setting up an English language learning club in the school that will be addressing all of these issues within the institution. Since it is a self-financing effort and affording guest native speaker teachers is out of the question, I was hoping that some of you would be kind enough to volunteer an hour or two of your time to come and visit our English language learning club and provide the kids with opportunity to hear native speakers and engage in conversation with them. The club is going to be active from September 2015.
These guest native/proficient user speaker sessions do not require you to prepare in any special way, just coming over and talking about yourself, your life, your work or your experiences in learning English or other languages will be more than enough. If you have kids you are more than welcome to bring them along and interact with our students of same age.
If you are interested please leave a message on this forum so that I can count you in or send an email to

Thank you in advance.
