Hello,

Should anyone know of an excellent native English speaker nanny being available
even if it's just for a couple of hours per week please send me a private message!

Knowledge of Hungarian is not required at all, however excellent English is an absolute must :)

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Julia

Hi Julia,

I just wanted to share my experience with you, that usually native speakers are not available hor babysitting. They work for good money in international kindergartens, and I never met a non-Hungarian nanny working in Hungary... however, there are great nannies, Hungarians, who speak great English! I wrote to the list earlier about Aniko, who was a full time nanny and worked for Americans in Hungary, now she has a 5 year old son and is available again. Let me know if you would like to have her cv.

Hey Barbie! I am a non-Hungarian in Hungary and I worked as a nanny for 4 years :-) Before me there was an American girl and since I stopped working the same family has found two wonderful American women to be their nanny. We do exist! I don't know anyone right now as so many of my contacts lately are with women with babies, but in my experience the task is not impossible!

Good morning and thanks a lot everyone,
the task here is for my son to learn English from a native speaker, and not for us to get help in English because I myself or my son do not speak Hungarian and therefore would not be able to communicate with the nanny :)

Although I appreciate the fact that many Hungarian nannies speak fairly good English and therefore are able to help many expat families, unless I myself would no be able to spot the difference in her/his pronunciation I have a strong bias towards native speakers.

Please let me know should you know anyone who is willing to either babysit or just give private lessons (which means playing) individually preferably at our home!

Thanks a lot!

Julia

Hi Julia,

Have you thought of finding someone from AISB or the British school? Esp. if you need someone to play/hang out while you are at home. We had a great 16 yr old babysitter who played with my son with the same purpose as you mentioned. It worked out really well. Our babysitter is no longer in Hungary, but I might know of a girl who might be interested. I've seen her with kids at my son's boy scout troop and she seemed nice and fun.

I would like to join Julia looking for a native English speaker (British or Irish origin) . My son just turned 6 and I would like someone to start teaching him to read English as I do not want to confuse him with two languages. It can be weekends or afternoons as he is in preschool during the week. Does not have to stay with him on her own (no need for feeding or cleaning up after him) or help me around the house. Just teach and play.
