Hello Budapest Moms. My three-month old and I are looking for English-speaking mothers' groups/activities to join here in Budapest. I noticed the calendar of events on the Budapest Moms site hasn't been updated in a while so I was hoping people could offer ideas here. I'm a first-time mother and would love some playmates for my daughter. |

Ah, my husband and I have been wondering that! We have the Fire Stick, so hoping we can find a way to make it work there. We'll be there by April. On Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 12:09:28 AM UTC-8, Ana Maria Cruz wrote: |

*Personal introduction* Hi everyone, I am new here so this is my 2-sentence intro: we have *just* moved to Budapest for the next few months, I am Czech with an American husband, a 2-year old daughter and a 16-year old pug. We are looking forward to making new friends and exploring this lovely city! *Question about playgroup* I am looking for a no-hassle playgroup/nursery that our 2-yr old daughter could attend on a totally flexible schedule, the idea is to take her there for about 1 hour, once or twice a week, as needed. Is there such a thing? Can be Hungarian-speaking only. Many thanks for any tips! |

Hello mamas! My husband and I, plus our 6 y/o twins will be moving to Budapest for nine months soon... and I'd love to get some feedback on what you are itching to have there that you can't find? What do you wish you'd brought with you? (Thinking of random things like batteries, or Lara Bars -- kids love 'em, or super absorbent night diapers -- one still needs them, or books written in English, or non-chemical sunscreen.... I don't know, anything). We will attempt to travel very light, and hopefully not have any big needs while there... but thought asking might be fun. (Hubby missed Bisquick in the 1980's while living in Germany... but I know these days things are much easier to find, and I personally love discovering new favorites abroad. Plus, we can get Amazon in Germany to ship to Budapest I imagine, if there were a great need. I just can't think of what we wouldn't be able to find. Thanks for any tips! Libby |

Hello Moms, we will be living in Budapest at least nine months, maybe a bit longer, with my husband and 6.5 y/o b/g twins. We are currently in Los Angeles, California, and my children attend a Waldorf kindergarten. We will be arriving in April, but likely going to travel and "unschool" until school begins in Budapest in Aug/Sept., rather than do the last six weeks of K there. Questions: Does anyone here have young-ish children who attend the American International or the British International school? Would love to connect with a few other moms about their experiences there. My kids are used to lots of exploration and play at school, art, not a lot of "sit at your desk for two hours straight and listen to me teach". Wondering how these two schools handle the newly 7 y/o kiddos and if it's developmentally appropriate/loving/fun/kind and encourages a love of learning, rather than obeying. Doesn't seem that way from the website (the negative).... but would love to know from others, even if they've just toured, what their experiences have been. I'm all set to have them move into "first grade", but want it to be a gentle transition there and not harsh. How about expat homeschooling or unschooling communities in Budapest? Any leads? I don't have the temperament to fully homeschool my kids, but I also don't want them restricted to classrooms when we could be traveling and exploring. Would need to connect with a community of like-minded parents/kids and perhaps a support person to give me a break certain days. Any sites or leads on wonderful native English nannies? Where would one search? And lastly, total long-shot, but any idea how to possibly find a Waldorf or Reggio-trained ex-teacher or assistant who we might be able to hire for a semester? Lots of options, just exploring solutions now. ****Oh, and summer camps of all sorts, where would I find out about them? With much appreciation, Libby |

The central location is easily accessible by 4/6 tram for both those on the Pest and Buda side. We're usually sitting at the long table in the centre and everyone's welcome including babies and children :) Looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday and if you have any questions, please let me know.
