I thought I'd share this info on a Bilingual school program if case anyone is interested, its mostly for those transferring from their current school or have just moved to Budapest and want to continue in a bilingual (English - Hungarian program).

Dear Dorothy
To share our experience - as this NGO works in association with public schools it was impossible to get into one of these classes. Already for applying into 1st grade the kindergarten Dandellion which is a preferred one for getting into the school was full and the other spaces for 1st graders were filled with kids living in school district. So we were unfortunately passed for an opportunity to get into one of these two Bp schools.

Sorry to hear that Elena! I know it has become quite popular and since there are currently only 3 schools running the program, it's hard to get in. 

The foundation is working on getting the program to run in more state schools but since that involves getting the local government to agree its a long and difficult process, as is everything in this country :)

This current initiative is to get more students into the upper grades (grade 5 - 8) because with the Hungarian system of 6yr and 8yr secondary schools, some students leave 8 grade primary schools to join these, leaving open spaces that the foundation would like to fill.
