Hash Trash report on BPH3 Hash No # 1870 on Sunday 15_February_2026
(Only one day after Valentine day...🥰)

Maybe bad news for some BPH3 hashers, (PP, eventually?), but it is me again, (Rabies), who has to scribe this Hash Trash.
No matter that I arrived at the announced meeting place (Batthyány square) sharp on time, (11:30, that is), yet I was the very last to get there, well after volunteer Hare Rambone, his Cuming Frequently, plus Paolo (the Italian Stallion) and NFHN Vesna.
There were several other hashers also expected to join in, at least they reacted with positive WhatsApp "like" emoji signs to the preliminary instructions of the Hare, (copy below), but they didn't turn up, for various excuses:
- OMT & OLL preferred a light skating Sunday morning to a possibly hard hashing, after completing a tiresome Saturday dance program the night before.
- TT became busy working, at least she said so on the phone.
- PP? No news, neither good, nor bad...
- BLTN joined the pack only at the end, in the ON-IN bar called "Dürer kert" garden, located on the Danube West shore, right across the South cape of "Kopaszi gát" peninsula.
- Paolo had again brought many bottles full of high quality German beer, as a gift to BPH3, (though expiry date was close...), but finally he preferred public transport for getting to the ON-IN bar, because of his still aching leg.
- Fart Molester made a clever shortcut, already at the very beginning of the hash run, that is:
Instead of going to the official meeting place at Batthyány square, he went straight to the starting point of the Trail at the Rudas thermal bath between river Danube and Gellért hill.
There he shared with me one of Paolo's gift beers as a punishment(?) down-down, then he went home to watch - together with his Indian friends and family - a cricket match (of allegedly historical importance) between Pakistan and India, and presumably drink there a few more beers...
(What a waste and shame, but out of the many this one was the only gift beer bottle emptied during the whole hash day.../:+(()
- NFHN Vesna was full of complaints, more than ever.
She didn't like the chilly wind, (who did?/:+)), she found Gellért hill too steep for her, she was against beer drinking in general, as well as against wasting flour for marking the Trail, practically she was against every hash tradition on earth, including usual hash language and hash songs.
After complaining and criticizing the hash for ten minutes or more on the tram and by the Rudas thermal bath, she just left, too.
(I wonder if did she come only to complain to me?/:+))
At the end of the day only three of us walked the (actually excellent) Trail together:
1.) Hero Hare Rambone, literally twice on the same day, first early morning for laying the Trail, then a second time to help the pack in finding it.
2.) His sweet CF.
3.) My humble self, Rabies.
Most of the Trail was paved, this time something really useful, as we were marching across melting snow and puddles, passing by also the newest and tallest (and probably the ugliest) highrise in town, the MOL Center, right in the middle of the posh Budapart estate.
Before it we spent some time in the official Beer Stop pub midway, called "SAROK TANSZÉK", (Corner Faculty).
Except for the waitress talking too long on her mobile, the bar looked quite suitable for future Hash Socials, too, which the waitress also confirmed, later, after finishing her pretty long phone call.
(Long not by the distance but timewise, I mean.../:+))
(See attached photo for contacting Corner Faculty.)
The ON-IN place (Dürer Kert Garden) looked like a flea market at first sight, although indoors, with fancy lights and a DJ, well, simply much too posh for the taste of an average hasher.
(Also at the second and at the third sight.../:+))
After finding it and sitting at the bar, at the end it turned out that nobody else wanted to conduct a proper closing Hash Circle Ceremony outdoors, but me, so soon I went home, too.
Having to miss the Circle we also missed an opportunity in finding a Hare for next Sunday, unfortunately.
The shortage of volunteer hares is a long term problem in Budapest Hash, acute and chronical at the same time.
Here are a few recruiting sentences, written more than 20 years ago...:

"HARE RAISING…

UNCLE HASH WANTS YOU !!!

CONTINUOUS SEARCH IS GOING ON FOR FINDING VOLUNTEER HARES, meaning people who actually set a HASH. It’s absolutely crucial (i.e. bloody important) for the HASH to book hares well ahead of time, our mare (i.e. f..king) survival depends on it. BH3 gets in deep shit if YOU don’t help. To hare, or not to hare? It shouldn’t be the question. Just do it! Haring is great, is fun and uplifting. It’s something like wetting your pants: Only you alone have the warm feeling, no matter if others notice it or not. Volunteer, or you’ll be appointed! Don’t hesitate to contact immediately the nominated official Hare Raiser, or any member to the Honorable Hash Mismanagement Committee for info, if you feel anything like setting one.

TRY IT AND YOU’LL LIKE IT!"

Now-a-days becoming a Hare is even more simple:
Make a plan, then just write the place, the date and the time of meeting, and you'll be in charge immediately.
First come first serve!
(Except for PP's birthday hash, of course.../:+))
On-On, Rabies
