Early morning our long term returnee Giving Head (Zsuzsa) e-initiated a Hash Run in Budapest, but by noon she changed her mind and did not come...
The remaining three hashers were:
1.) One More Trail ("Volunteer" Live Hare)
2.) Oh-La-La (The only female)
3.) Rabies (Hash Trash scribe)
Missing all the lazy and slow wimps meant a Hash Trail without mileage limit, and our exceedingly sportive Hare took an exhausting advantage of the opportunity.
The roughly 14 km long Hash Walk started with a scenic climb from "Kis Rigó" resto (at Pilisszentlászló), up to the lookout tower of Prédikálószék peak above, then turned steeply down to Dömös, a riverside town by the Danube Elbow.
(HÉV train and regional bus services were used for the rest of the trip.)
We had wonderful views in a bit of chilly but otherwise wonderful weather, across forests and fields full of freshly sprung, bright green leaves and flourishing flowers of the spring.
At the hilltop Beer Stop, under the lookout tower we were surprised to realize the pretty unbalanced supply of hash beverages at our disposal.
The three of us had nothing else but one half litre "Kőbányai" beer can, plus one litre törköly pálinka, both left over from our recent Easter time family festivities.
No more beer, no food, no water at all, and no way to procure any reserves on the hilltop spot.
Accordingly and admitting the truth, I got much too drunk to remember all the details of the walk, as we were happily singing, dancing and tumbling down along the second part of the trail.
In Dömös, next to the town's church building we luckily found a dodgy gipsy pub open for a next beer, and at the end of the day we could solemnly perform our Hash Hymn, while waiting for our homeward lift at the local bus stop.
When meeting at Batthyány square in the morning, I was surprised to see the construction of a huge stage for the Tisza party.
The large scale arrangements were suggesting that they prepare rather to celebrate winning the parliamentary elections of the day, not losing it.
By the evening this dream of the Tisza supporters (but maybe a nightmare for many others...) became true.
Luckily, instead of Batthyány square the bus from Dömös took us back to Újpest Városkapu terminal, which is on the opposite side of river Danube in Budapest.
We had a good workout, we sang, we danced, we had fun, we got drunk, after all we had a perfect hash, I think.
The only thing we couldn't manage was finding a hash hare for next Sunday.
Any volunteers???/:+))
On-On, Rabies
