Feb Fucker Hash Scribe's Trash Report, March 30, 2025

Every hash has their tradition, and the BH3 is no exception: the last one coming back to the circle is the scribe! So how come that the only runner on today's hash was last in? Well... let me tell you about this nice hash run around Óbudai Sziget!

It was great to be back at the BH3 after a long time no running due to some knee problems. And the hares promising a  "short and flat" run, so it was a good excuse to test my operated knee (On On to the great health care system here!).

7 Hashers (and 2 hashkids) met at Batthyány tér and took the H5 to Filatorigát where your going-to-be-scribe-for-today was waiting at the first blob of the run. Most likely there will be a full-page article in the "independent" Metró why somebody left almost a full lángos-sized flour-blob under the chairs of the waiting shed. But we hashers know! And this was probably half of the flour left of the trail after the Budapest overnight rain had washed away "more than a little" of the nice trail the hare had laid the day before. And can we trust the hare's promise of a "nice short and flat run"?

The answer is most likely still floating somewhere in hash-space... as the pack left off walking with Rabbies and your scribe running to the first check... and the second... before reaching the bridge to Óbudai sziget, one of the beautifil islands in the Budapest part of the Danube. This island is as flat as the scribe's motherland (The Netherlands), so that was one tick in the box for the hare's promise!
The island has some nice beaches and river banks along the Danube river and the trail started on the main (running parcour) gravel path around the island. The beaches and river bank looked promising and invitingly, especially for a "beer stop with a view", so your running scribe checked many of the small tracks branching from the main gravel part, but only to find the faint almost-washed-away flour marks continuing on gravel. So another tick in the box for "easy"!
Halfway Rabbies decided that running in front of the hare may mean that he would miss the announced beer stop and decided to stick to the walkers. Your scribe throttled on in hope to find the sign for beer stop (DS).  But the hare had decided that a bench would be enough of a sign for a beer stop (how many benches are there on Óbudai sziget? Only the Budapest park-sleepers know! :-). So your scribe could't find the beerstop and throttled on thirsty until finally reaching the H5 Filatorigát station afian, which is a "rather dry place", no place with beer in miles! So I checked back to the island finding my fellow-hashers with the circle beer and... the circle! Which was started by Rabbies with the BH3 song and cunningly RA-ed by Tittytata... giving due credit to visitors from Doha.

It was good to back at the BH3 and as your today's scribe is now settling in Hungary, and he deems his knee good enough fixed for hashing, he is planning to return to the BH3 kennel. It was a long time I joined you, so long that thought the run fees where still HUF 500 (that was probably at the time that you could still go to the supermarket without raising your morgage first :-)  So I owe you still the today's run fees. An excellent excuse to return as soon as possible and pay my dues.

To make-up I revised the Scribe song from my previous hash kennel: The Hague H3:

Scribe, scribe...
What a scribe is (s)he
(S)he is the scribe of Budapest H3
And (s)he sees no sins
So we all agree...
(S)he is a useless scribe
Of Budapest H3!

Alternative last line (singing the song in the past tense):
(S)he must drink
A penalty!

Thank you hare for a lovely hash and On On (maybe not at the planned Polo pub, who's owner gave us only one hour to drink. We are hashers... one hour, what was he thinking - surely not about the money he missed on us). We ended up at the Bayern pub nextdoor... good beer, good food and friendly service!

About planning - something so unhashy! :-)
A perfect Within-Three-Hours-hash... we had our first On On beer exactly 2hr43min after the start of the run! ;-)
