For those of you who may not be as familiar with FourSquare, it's a
tool that allows consumers to "check-in" at your local business. So,
if I'm out on a Saturday and I stop at a local restaurant to eat, I
can "check-in" on FourSquare. Depending on my settings, this check-in
gets posted to my FourSquare friends AND perhaps my Twitter & Facebook
fans.
Great, so what does this mean for business owners? Well, it means that
if you leverage FourSquare properly, you can capitalize on this new
type of "word-of-mouth" marketing. If an influencer checks-in at your
business and his/her friends see that, it could entice them to come
by.
Also, FourSquare allows consumers to become the "Mayor" of local
businesses. Mayorship occurs if you have the most check-ins at a local
business. Mayorship switches hands as different consumers check-in
more frequently. As a business owner, you can take advantage of this
by offering specials to the FourSquare Mayor of your small business.

Are you using FourSquare for business? If so, what are your thoughts
on it?
