8/12 : 2 Siberian Chiffchaff : Tattenhoe, Milton Keynes.
Incredibly two birds, seen feeding together around the brook and neighbouring trees/bushes with M Wallen on a morning check of the brook. Both slightly differ (one with a more washed out supercillium and sandier tones to the upper parts and the other being slightly browner on the upper parts) but both consistently cold-toned around the breast, flanks and undertail with dark bare parts, strikingly pale in comparison to the collybita-types favouring the same area of the brook. Tristis-type calls and song also recorded from at least one individual. Both were observed inches apart at one point. Looking back on previous images and videos from the past few days, it appears the second bird may have been present since Saturday at least, but hard to be sure with varying weather and light conditions.
Harry Appleyard.
