Since update to the latest version, my computer is slowing down substantially. Especially when I open Outlook or open a browser (Firefox or Chrome), the power usage would jump to as very high and the CPU would be up to 60%. Generally the CPU would be around 30% or 40% when I did not have anything open or running.

Try to find which application running in the OS background environment. such as the application running in system boot automatically. A idea could use to search the application. Sort the CPU usage from high to low, and then post the screenshot here.

Same problem. Kaspersky Lab launcher 30% CPU usage. Try switching it off and on again. So go to KIS settings, click on File Anti-Virus, make sure Security level is Optimal, turn File Anti-Virus off, save, confirm. You will receive warning notifications. Turn File Anti-Virus back on, save, confirm. Kaspersky Lab launcher should now be using 0 to 0.4% CPU usage.

Just went through the ordeal described on the microsoft page. Yes, finally found the culprits. It was not Kaspersky...I recommend to reserve 2 h or so, since you will go through frequent reboots. I had a scribble block next to me to note down which parts I disabled and what the RAM / CPU usage was after each step. Because after a few changes you turn mad ;-)

But in the end I was able to bring down RAM from 7.3 GB usage to 4.2 GB. Main memory eater was Docker Desktop which I only need from time to time but which after an update was configured to fire up each time Wnidows starts.

And also as a hint, even if I disable EVERYTHING according to the MS article I still have a MEM usage of 3.4 GB. So, at least on my computer (Lenovo Yoga C930 with 12 GB RAM and WIN10) the stories from people saying 2 GB is all that WIN and the basic services occupy is simply not applicable.

Hint #2: I also could not believe that the total of all programs / services listed in the MS resource monitor should amount up to the total RAM usage listed. But I sat down finally with a calculator and it is really adding up to this. So, no hidden VM mem eaters or whatever some people claim that there is in the dark shadows of your MS system ;-)

to add: CPU usage is high after system start, but then in all configurations leveled down to 1 - 4% after 60-90 sec after I saw my WIN desktop, no matter what system configuration I chose. After disabling all unnecessary crap, I finally arrived at 1%.

I figured to uninstall Kaspersky Total Security and remove the Kaspersky Extension from Google Chrome and guess what? From 20% ++ CPU usage, it decreased to 1.1 - 1.5%. My fan noise is not noisy as when Kaspersky was installed. The temperature is slightly better now.

If I click on the Splunk Icon at my Splunk Web Interface I get a error message "The app "launcher" is not available " instead of the overview which got mentioned in the Splunk tutorials where you can describe your forwarded data or watch your collected data summary. After I got this error question I only can go to apps like "Search and Reporting" or "dhcpd" etc.

I've already looked to see if the "launcher" app is under etc/apps, but it's missing, even though I thought that this is a "core app" after a fresh installation. Otherwise I cant forward data from my forwarders to this Splunk master.

When the User setting for default App is set at the User level in 'Access Controls' - if the Launcher is not the default app then clicking the Splunk Enterprise Logo will always take the user back to the Default App.

Since the patch yesterday the game launcher won't open for me. It briefly flickers ("initializing") then disappears. I've tried repairing it, reinstalling the game and restating my computer but nothing fixed it. Does anyone else have this problem or know a way to fix it?

i think the launcher is probably already running but stuck, so you need to kill off the "Gw2-64.exe" process in task manager. its also possible the launcher is failing to patch itself due to permission issues, so make sure it can write to its directory (don't put it in program files, but on your desktop or user folder is fine).

For me the launcher window only appears after I kill the task in task manager. So I click gw2, nothing happens except my cursor telling me something is loading. No launcher appears. Go to task manager, end gw2 process (its a high power process). As soon as I do that the launcher appears like normal.

If I don't do the task manager process I can click on the gw2 icon and a process will appear for each time I click but no launcher window will open.

I still have that problem. Guild Wars 2 processes don't seem to close correctly when ending the application. You can do a workaround by killing all GW2 process manually, but I really hope this will get fixed sooner or later.

@trungleduc Glad to recieve this reply, thanks. I already tried this and create a path named jupyter_app_launcher under the directory of jupyter data path, then created a jp_app_launcher_my_extension.yaml , customized my conten into this yaml file and it displays ok. But what confuses me is why neither compilation nor direct installation can display the samples contained in code.(jupyter_app_launcher/samples at v0.1.7 trungleduc/jupyter_app_launcher GitHub). In the installation or compilation progress , does it copy this yaml file to data path?

What do you think about adding functionality similar to jupyter-app-launcher into JupyterLab core say for 4.2. or 4.3? It seems like customization of the laucher seems like a common use case. In lab we could have a just a list of settings for it.

if we talk about the epic launcher, there is no other app in this world that behaves worse than this. switching between tabs and menus takes ages. is incredible how bad it is and still no changes years later.

Once configured, you can run the Job Launcher via service by executing the command sudo rstudio-launcher start. The Launcher service needs root privilege for performing authentication and authorization, as well as providing any child plugin processes with root privilege (as needed). After initial setup, the Job Launcher lowers its privilege to the server user (see Configuration options for more information).

If the Job Launcher service fails to start and continue running, one of its plugins exited in failure and is likely not configured properly. It is often easier to run the Job Launcher in the terminal directly when getting it set up for the first time so you can more easily see any reported errors and more quickly test configuration changes. In order to run from the console, execute the command sudo /usr/lib/rstudio-server/bin/rstudio-launcher. If you are still having troubles starting the service, see Launcher Troubleshooting.

If the Launcher was installed from outside of Posit Workbench, the Launcher service is not automatically configured to start on system startup, and you must enable this manually if desired by using the following commands:

The user account that the Job Launcher runs under in normal course of operations is rstudio-server. This account is automatically added to the system when Posit Workbench is installed, and is created as a system rather than end user account (i.e., the --system flag is passed to useradd).

When we had the app tiles in the navigation of the Office 365 app launcher, I could drag and drop them in the order I wanted. With the new look, I can't figure out how to reorder the apps. Do we still have this capability, and if so, how do I rearrange the apps?

Well, it is terribly frustrating that the apps I typically use are at the very bottom of the list while the ones I don't even know what they are used for seem to crowd the space for all the ones I want. :(

If you unpin an app, then go to All Apps and pin it to Launcher again, it will show up at the end of the list. So theoretically I could unpin everything, then start with the one I want at the top. I currently have my top choice as the first one, so I will unpin everything but that, then start adding them back in the order I want.

If you have any questions about XIVLauncher, Dalamud, or Dalamud Plugins, please feel free to ask questions in our Discord server. We are a primarily English-speaking community and support in other languages may be limited.

These are the non-FFXIV domains you should expect to see network traffic from. All connections are made with HTTPS where possible. (Square-Enix is dumb and some of their services do not use HTTPS. We do not like this, but have no control over it.)

Like every patch maintenance, the lobby server will likely be taken offline as usual. Even assuming you get the patch downloaded and applied mid-maintenance, your authorization will almost assuredly be expired before things are back up.

FFXIV installs to a few different locations depending on whether you used the official installer or steam, when you installed it, and potentially if you installed the free trial or not. Here are some of the common paths.

People who bought FFXIV on Steam are required to link their Steam account to their Square Enix account in the official launcher. We have no way around this, and because of this, you are required to have Steam open if you have a Steam service account.

If you want the Steam overlay on a non-Steam service account, you need to add XIVLauncher as a non-Steam game through Steam. If you want Steam to count hours for FFXIV, you can right-click it in your library, choose Properties and set Launch Options to C:\Users\**YOUR USERNAME HERE**\AppData\Local\XIVLauncher\XIVLauncher.exe %command%.

NOTE: Most programs will not let you use the shorthand for %localappdata% and %appdata%. You will need to use their full/real path (usually some form of C:\Users\AppData followed by Local or Roaming.

This is an issue with Square Enix servers that has been affecting players in the US for a while now, being caused by the login servers being hosted directly by SE in Japan and not taking care of their routes to players.

To remedy it, you can either wait a while and try again then, or set your VPN to Japan until you are on the title screen. Then you should be able to play normally without a VPN. DNS changes have also been said to help.
