I would like to request the following feature improvements:

  • Add an option to increase the limit of 300 images that can be played at once in the image slideshow.

  • Fix the issue in the image slideshow where the entire screen becomes slightly white when switching between images using physical keys.

Hi,

The 300 limit will be removed in the next app update.
And I think have a fix for the "entire screen becomes slightly white" issue.

Hi,

Thanks for the fix.
However, after updating to Ver.4.5.0.1, the issue where the screen becomes faintly white still occurs.
The devices I'm using are Galaxy Tab S6, S7+, and S8 Ultra.

Hi,

Thank you for the video.

I will investigate but cannot think of anything that would cause it.
It does not happen on my Google Pixel Pro 8.

In the video I assume you tapped the the Play button in the top bar to launch the slideshow.
Does the issue happen if after launching the image viewer you just tap the screen to make the UI go away ?

I wonder if this is not a Samsung thing for their display when going into fullscreen (immersive) mode.
Can you check in the Samsung settings, in the display / screen section to check if there is a toggle that
may alter how the screen look in some scenario ?

Hi,

I checked the settings, but there doesn’t seem to be any option like that.

When I tap the screen to hide the UI, the white overlay disappears.

It looks like the image display widget is getting focus when I try to switch images using hardware keys.

This issue occurs when I use the left/right arrow keys on a USB-connected keyboard, or the left/right buttons on a Bluetooth media controller.

I couldn’t attach the video due to size limitations, so I uploaded it to Google Drive instead.

Thank you for the video.

It is indeed when the app enter the immersive mode (no status bar nor navigation bar/pill) that this white overlay shows up.
Can you report if the same issue happens in the Google Photo app, viewing a photo and tapping it to enter immersive mode ?
Or any other app that shows content without any UI element ?

Also can you confirm if the issue happens if you just tap the image to enter immersive mode then swipe to go to next/prev image.
Or if it just specific to external control with media controller / keyboard.

Hi, Thank you reply.

This issue does not occur in the Google Photos app.
However, it does occur in the pre-installed Samsung Gallery app.

The issue does not happen when swiping between images.
It only occurs when using a media controller or keyboard.

Thanks for the test.
I suppose that in the Samsung Gallery app it also only happens using the media controller or keyboard ?
If so, it is probably a weird thing the system is doing with these media key presses. It is not universal though.

Hi,

Yes, this issue only occurs when using the media controller or keyboard. It does not happen when swiping.
However, the issue was resolved in Samsung Gallery app version 14.5.00.34.
It still occurs in version 13.1.05.19.

Ver.13.1.05.19 on Galaxy Tab S6

Ver.14.5.00.34 on Galaxy Tab S7+

Thanks for the info.

It shows that this (Samsung specific) issue can be fixed but I have zero idea how they fixed it...

Understood.
Thank you for your efforts so far.

I’m withdrawing the request, but I’ll leave a note about an additional test I tried.
This issue also occurred with BubbleUPNP 4.4.1.3 on Amazon Fire HD 10 (2021).
I hope this issue will be resolved in the future.
