Empty folders

I recently installed my flac music files on the SD card of my Samsung Note 20 5g. They worked ok but the sort function refused to do anything but present an alphabetical list. I tried removing the SD card and reinstalling it only to find that whilst I can see the folder structure, the folders themselves are now empty. The files are still visible with a file manager.

 Chat GPT told me to install the bubble UPNP server because the player no longer has access to the files in Android 13. I have, but I have no idea how to configure it or whether it's actually likely to solve the problem.

I have absolutely zero (and I mean zero) technical knowledge so can someone please tell me what's happened.

Forget ChatGPT as "BubbleUPnP Server" has nothing to do with this.

I suppose the Android Media Store (the system component that indexes music files on local storage) went kaboom with what is stored on your SD Card.

There is unfortunately no way to force the Android Media Store to rescan files. It is supposed to do it on reboots so you may want to try that with your SD Card inserted

and wait for a while.

Other than that, you can still access your SD Card, browsing by filesystem (thus not using the Android Media Store) this way:

- go into the Library tab

- enter the folder whose title is "Folders"

- use the + floating button at the bottom right

- use the system file picker to select the root folder of your music stored on the SD Card (repeat if you have several root folders)

=> Now you can browse this folder in BubbleUPnP

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately it doesn't move me forward much since I can't find a "folder whose title is folders" under the library tab. (I'm assuming that I'm supposed to be looking in the settings of bubbleupnp.) my files in the SD card are organised under MUSIC > CLASSICAL, JAZZ, SPOKEN, ETC > ARTIST OR COMPOSER > WORK OR ALBUM.  I assume that MUSIC is the root?

Sorry to be so clueless but any help will be very much appreciated.
