Greetings, Bradley engineers,
This was posted on the SCIENCES listserv, some of you may be receiving
this twice.
There are a number of exciting grant programs from the EPA. Check it
out here:

1. Be thinking about this one over the Summer; it's for
undergraduates: P3: People, Prosperity and the Planet Student Design
Competition for Sustainability.
http://www.epa.gov/ncer/p3/
EPA's P3 – People, Prosperity, and the Planet—Program is a unique
college competition for designing solutions for a sustainable future.
P3 offers students quality hands-on experience that brings their
classroom learning to life.
2. Concerned about toxins in the area? Read up on CARE:
http://www.epa.gov/care/.
Community Action for a Renewed Environment (CARE) is a competitive
grant program that offers an innovative way for a community to
organize and take action to reduce toxic pollution in its local
environment. Through CARE, a community creates a partnership that
implements solutions to reduce releases of toxic pollutants and
minimize people's exposure to them. By providing financial and
technical assistance, EPA helps CARE communities get on the path to a
renewed environment.
3. Let's do some educational outreach: The purpose of the
Environmental Education Grants Program is to provide seed money to
support environmental education projects that increase the public's
awareness about environmental issues and provide them with the skills
to take responsible actions to protect the environment.

4. Let's promote some justice:

(Many different programs)
5. Send your undergraduate students to the EPA next summer for an
internship experience:
http://www.epa.gov/careers/internships/index.html.
You can have that career at EPA! EPA internships and fellowships
provide a great introduction to our work, giving you a sense of
whether EPA might be the right place for you. Internships, fellowships
and other opportunities are available at our Washington D.C.
headquarters, in our ten regional offices, and at our labs and
research centerHs throughout the nation. Want to learn more about what
EPA interns actually do? Read some of their blog posts.
6. Build a better diesel engine:
http://www.epa.gov/otaq/diesel/grantfund.htm.
Since 2008, EPA has funded nearly 60,000 pieces of clean diesel
technology through the National Clean Diesel Campaign. These
technologies included emissions and idle control devices, aerodynamic
equipment, engine and vehicle replacements, and alternative fuel
options. These projects meet critical local air quality needs by
deploying proven and emerging technologies much earlier than would
otherwise occur.
7. Here is their extramural research (and grants) page:
http://www.epa.gov/ncer/
Supporting high quality research by the nation's leading scientists
and engineers to improve EPA's scientific basis for decisions on
national environmental issues. EPA supports leading edge extramural
research in exposure, effects, risk assessment, and risk management
through competitions for STAR grants, fellowships, and research
contracts under the Small Business Innovative Research Program.
8. Here is the EPA's collection of water-related grants:
