Greetings from ABLE!!!
ABLE invites applications for
BEST 2018. The last date for receiving applications is October 15, 2018.
ABLE requests your help in seeking applications from the students community.
BEST is acronymn for Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Student Teams. This is a program under the
Department of Biotechnology and administered by Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE).
The aim of BEST is to encourage young graduate, postgraduate, or doctoral students to pursue biotechnology entrepreneurship and develop them. BEST winners will be exposed to issues involved in commercialization of bioscience. BEST has been successfully held
for the past nine years.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Form a Team of Five with a nominated team leader. The team could be interdisciplinary with at least THREE of the members pursuing life science courses. Two others could be from other disciplines. And submit the following.
Identity Proof: Each team members should upload (i) College ID Cards
and (ii) Personal ID Proof (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID etc).
Concept Note & Executive Summary Sheet: Prepare a concept note of your idea and upload the same online
(http://ableindia.in/best2018/applicationform) along with
the executive summary. The applications will be evaluated for scientific temper, Innovation and commercialization potential.
Authorization Letter: Soft copy of the letter from the Institute authorizing team’s participation
SELECTION & WORKSHOP
20 Teams will be short listed and will be provided free accommodation for a 4-day Workshop. Travel costs by the shortest route to the venue will be paid by ABLE (outstation teams will be reimbursed Third-AC equivalent fare). Local conveyance from airport/railway
station to the workshop venue will also be reimbursed.
The Entrepreneurship Workshop will have sessions from eminent leaders from business and academia. There will also be special sessions to help students improve their business skills and help convert ideas into an effective business plan. Students will be introduced
to aspects like proof-of-concept, IPR, managing funds, licensing and strategic alliances for starting a venture.
WINNERS
The Top 20 teams will be expected to make a 10-minute Power-point presentation on the hypothetical business plan on the final-day of the Workshop.
Five winning teams would be selected by Juries. Top FIVE teams will be awarded cash prizes:
First Prize -- Rupees Five lakh (Rs. 5,00,000 )
TWO Second ranked teams -- Rupees Three lakh (Rs. 3,00,000) each,
TWO Third ranked teams -- Rupees Two lakh (Rs. 2,00,000 ) each
All the Five Winning Teams will get an opportunity to Participate in BIOINVEST event of ABLE in early 2019.
BIOINVEST is a conference that provides the networking platform for the Life science Start-ups, Institutional investors, Investment Bankers, Financial sponsors, and the industry to explore market opportunities and understand sectoral trends.
