You are invited to a one-time event that reaches to the core of Kalapuya culture, the past, present and future. You will be surprised how Indigenous food culture is practiced today in the Willamette Valley, with few people realizing what is happening.

Join David Harrelson, Ampinefu Kalapuya member and Cultural Resources Department Manager of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde, for an overview of Indigenous foods efforts within the Kalapuya ilihi – a.k.a. Willamette Valley. His talk will be followed by a conversation with a panel of local Indigenous food activists who are contributing to the native food sovereignty movement.

- Luhui Whitebear, Assistant Professor of Indigenous Studies and OSU Indigenous Studies Program Coordinator and Indigenous liaison for the OSU Food Program.
Moderator: Adam Davis, Executive Director, Oregon Humanities
This live presentation will kick off the 2025 Champinefu Lecture Series (9th season) which will also include webinars on Indigenous Placekeeping through Teas (November 12th) and Tarweed - A Kalapuya First Food and Placekeeper (December 3rd).
Prior to the program visit:
- The Table Display by the OSU Indigenous Studies Program about returning Indigenous Canoe Culture to the Mid-Willamette and Marys (Pinefu in Kalapuya) Rivers for the first time since March 20, 1856.
- The Grassroots Books table featuring Indigenous books recommended by the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde
