Title: Insecticide Resistance of the Clover Seed Weevil, Tychius picirostris

Bio: I, Wyatt Davis-Hinze, am a master’s student in the Crop and Soil Science department at Oregon State University. I am pursuing a degree in Crop Science with a focus on Entomology. My research examines the abundance and mechanisms of insecticidal resistance in Clover Seed Weevils (Tychius picirostris), a pest with significant implications for local white clover crop production. My work integrates crop science, entomology, and applied biochemistry to better understand how insecticidal resistance develops and to apply this knowledge toward more effective pest management strategies for regional growers.

My academic path began at Clackamas Community College, where I discovered my passion for botany. I later transferred to Oregon State University, earning my undergraduate degree in Botany and Plant Pathology. During this time, I gained hands-on research experience in a plant pathology lab, which sparked his enthusiasm for scientific inquiry and problem-solving.

I chose my current project out of a blend of academic curiosity, personal passion for plant sciences, and a practical commitment to supporting the agricultural community. My long-term goal is to contribute to the development of sustainable crop management systems that directly benefit growers in the Pacific Northwest.
