Oregon Climate and Agriculture Network (OrCAN)
is looking for new Board Members!
|
|
|
OrCAN just secured non-profit status and launched our new soil health network, and we’re establishing two new Boards:
- OrCAN’s Board of Directors: responsible for fiduciary oversight; organizational policy and legal compliance; ultimate oversight of programs and services; and selection, evaluation, and support of executive leadership.
- OrCAN’s Program Advisory Board: providing expertise and guidance to support the development, implementation, evaluation, and refinement of OrCAN’s programs.
This is a great opportunity for folks who are passionate about soil health and climate resilience for Oregon’s farmers and ranchers, and interested in a leadership role.
We are looking for individuals with experience or expertise in any of these areas:
- non-profit management or prior service on a non-profit board of directors
- finance and/or fundraising
- human resources/personnel management
- legal and/or compliance
- program planning, management and/or evaluation
- farming/ranching
- soil health and/or sustainable agriculture
- technical assistance and/or education
- supporting historically marginalized/underserved communities
- science/research
- state/federal policy
- communications
Board members must have a commitment to OrCAN’s
mission and values.
The commitment is for at least one year, beginning in January 2026, approximately 4 hours each quarter.

We are committed to shifting power and resources to producers who have been disempowered within institutions and political systems, particularly Black, Indigenous, Latino, and other Communities of Color (BIPOC). We aspire to be inclusive and embrace complex
differences in perspectives and people.
For the Program Advisory Board, we are seeking representation from the following communities:
1) producers who identify as Native American, other BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women, or small-scale producers; and
2) farm service providers including at least one BIPOC led non-profit organization.
Members of the Program Advisory Board who identify as BIPOC and other historically marginalized and/or under-served communities will be offered compensation of $800/year for their service, dependent on funding secured.
