|
According to the August 24, 2023 U.S. Drought Monitor, 50% of the Pacific Northwest Drought Early Warning System (DEWS) is in drought. Drought
coverage has increased from 32% since the beginning of summer and short-term outlooks lean dry. This webinar will provide more information on the current regional conditions and outlooks as well as updates from state experts from Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
Additionally, the webinar will feature a presentation on "Estimating Drought Recovery in the Climate Toolbox."
These webinars provide the region's stakeholders and interested parties with timely information on current and developing drought conditions,
as well as climatic events like El Niño and La Niña. Speakers will also discuss the impacts of these conditions on things such as wildfires, floods, disruption to water supply and ecosystems, as well as impacts to affected industries like agriculture, tourism,
and public health.
