We'll be at Philomath Pride, June 28 from 12:00 - 4:00 pm, at Philomath City Park!
Marys River Watershed Council is excited to celebrate Pride with the community—and to share the story of Newton Creek.
We’re partnering with the City of Philomath and Philomath High School on a restoration effort at Newton Creek, funded by a NOAA Fish Passage grant. Two failing and undersized culverts at Philomath City Park are being replaced with bridges to reopen over 4 miles
of essential salmonid habitat.
-
Students from Philomath High School will help shape the restoration vision, participating in native plantings, invasive species removal, and outdoor learning.
-
The creek flows from a unique wetland complex, rich with beaver ponds and habitat for Western pond turtles, making this an important focus area.
-
This project will also make the park safer— new bridges will reduce flooding and improve year round use.
Stop by our booth at Philomath Pride to learn more!
