OPEN STREETS IS THIS SUNDAY!

Join the 7th annual free street festival

Open Streets returns this Sunday, June 29, from 11 am to 3 pm, giving all of us an opportunity to re-imagine our shared public spaces – streets and parks – as places for people to walk, bike, and play. This year’s festival features a car-free route between Lilly Park and Willamette Park in South Corvallis.

The festival will include giant games in the parks, bicycle-powered rides, art activities, local food and drink, street installations, dance, live music – and much more!

Check out some live music and dance at our local parks:

  • Lilly Park – The dance stage line-up features swing dancing, Rumbanana Cuban Salsa, contra dancing with live music from The Nettles, and a traditional dance performance by Corazón Oaxaqueño.

  • Willamette Park – The music stage features DTW, Singchronicity, and Mule on Fire.

You’re also invited to join an Open Streets favorite: the amazing community parade that travels from Lilly Park to Willamette Park, starting at 11:15 am.

Hungry or thirsty? Plan to purchase lunch, a snack, or a delicious drink from one of the many food vendors. And set aside plenty of time to visit some of the more than 50 booths set up throughout the event, sponsored by local organizations – including three hosted by the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition!

Waste Prevention Action Team Booth

Located at Lilly Park, this booth will focus on ways to reduce what you’re sending to Coffin Butte Landfill.

Don't throw good stuff away!

This FREE ReUse Directory gives you an easy way to find businesses/organizations in the Corvallis and Philomath area that accept reusable items. A few examples include both small and large appliances, building materials, computers and office equipment, and household goods of all kinds.

Using items again and again conserves our precious natural resources, saves limited landfill space, and can even save you money!

  • Pick up a copy of the 2025 ReUse Directory – the newest version!
  • Find out about the Recycling Modernization Act that goes into effect on July 1st and what you can now recycle that you couldn’t before.
  • Learn about additional ways to reduce the amount of waste you’ve been putting in your trash cart.

Water Action Team Booth

Located on SE Alexander Avenue, between Bethel and Thompson, this booth will focus on the lost creeks and wetlands of South Corvallis.

Explore displays about:

  • Ryan Creek, which drains nearly half of South Corvallis but is known by few people
  • Whether you live, work, or shop in places that are built on a former wetland
  • The South Corvallis Butterfield Wetland, which has more bird species annually than the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge
  • Corvallis wetlands that have been regenerated by the Coalition’s Water Action Team – There may be one near where you live!

Energy Action Team and Health & Human Services Action Team Booth

Located at Willamette Park, this booth will focus on two aspects of climate change: protecting yourself from the impacts of hot weather and making your home and workplace more climate-friendly through energy efficiency.

  • Play our “Hot Weather” game to enter the drawing for a new Hydro Flask water bottle – a $35 value!
  • Learn about the cost-saving opportunities offered by Energy Trust of Oregon as you make the shift to energy efficiency
  • Talk with Seeds for the Sol staff about how they can help make solar affordable for your home

Materials at this booth will be available in both English and Spanish.

Whatever you’ve got planned for Sunday, be sure to make Open Streets part of your day! For further details and a map of Open Streets locations, visit the Open Streets website
