Open Streets Corvallis has six important goals that help advance our vision of a sustainable community – one that fosters environmental quality, social
equity, and economic vitality:
·
Have a positive impact on community livability by connecting neighborhoods and neighbors.
·
Improve the health and wellness of Corvallis residents.
·
Encourage walking, biking and other forms of active transportation.
·
Increase awareness of sustainable transportation options.
·
Foster new, creative partnerships that put money back into the local economy.
·
Support equity and inclusion on event day and beyond.
The first Open Streets event, co-sponsored by the City of Corvallis and the Corvallis
Bicycle Collective, was held in August 2017 – the day before the solar eclipse. Over 2,000 people and 33 organizations participated that year. Following its initial
success, the event moved to two different neighborhoods in 2018 and 2019, growing to include more community participants.
This year’s Open Streets event will be the first since the COVID pandemic started in 2020, and we hope you’ll be part of it! The
Corvallis
Sustainability Coalition is a proud co-sponsor of Open
Streets Corvallis, in partnership with the City of Corvallis’
Active
Transportation Program.
