1. Sunday Teaching Program for the month of Sept’13
The Sunday teaching program scheduled for the month of September’13 is listed below:
a) 8th September: Dhamma talk by Mother Mahaviro, a Chinese nun in the Theravadan tradition.
b) 15th September: Dhamma talk by Ven Visuddhi, a Sri Lankan monk who has been resident in Canberra and is visiting the BSV for the weekend.
c) 22nd September: Dhamma talk by Ven Jag.
d) 29th September: Questions and answers with Ayya Upekkha and Ven Jag. Please submit questions by the Friday prior.
2. 8 Precepts 24 Hours Observation at the BSV starting on Saturday, 28thth Sept @ 7:30am to Sunday, 29th closing @ 8:00am.
This is a 24 hours 8 Precepts Observation at the BSV with participants arrival at 7:30am for a 8am start on Saturday morning, 28th Sept to the next morning, Sunday, 29th Sept closing at 8:00am. Participants will be observing noble silence, meditating and contemplating, and observing the 8 precepts. Lunch and breakfast will be provided onsite to the participants. This is made possible by the generous support of a small group of BSV supporters and volunteers.
Interested participants must email their personal details to register for this event by Monday 23rd Sept. You can send your email to sanghami...@gmail.com with the heading “8PreceptsDay:” follow by your name, gender in the Email Subject line. In the email, please provide your phone number.
Details about the 24hours 8-precepts Observation will be posted on the BSV Notice Board at Malvern East and Bentleigh East centres, as well as in the BSV electronic calendar on the BSV website.
Please note that it is not mandatory that you stay for the whole 24hours duration at the BSV Malvern East centre, although participants are encouraged to do so. You can attend at whichever time convenient to yourself. That is you can come for any number of hours, or go home in the evening and come back in the next morning by 5am.
This is a great opportunity for everyone to practise their meditation mindfully, whilst observing the 8 precepts in a supportive environment.
3. Free Public Dhamma Talk by the Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain - Topic: Spiritual Environmental Protection in Daily Life
The Abbot President of the Dharma Drum Mountain, Ven. Guo Dong will be conducting a public Dhamma talk on the above topic.

4. Weekend Meditation Retreat with Dhammaruwan: Friday, 13th Sept to 15th Sun 3pm (Booking will be closed on Sunday 8th Sept)
Dhammaruwan is an acclaimed lay Buddhist teacher of Sri Lankan heritage who was famous for spontaneously chanting suttas in early childhood. In this weekend retreat, he will guide participants to deepen their meditation practice and understanding of Dhamma through guidance in walking and sitting meditation, interviews and Dhamma talks.
Dhammaruwan has been trained for several years under Bhante Henepola Gunaratana Nayaka Thero, and is a graduate of the Insight Meditation Society’s (USA) Teacher Training Program. He teaches worldwide and communicates complex teachings in simple language.

Cost: $175 for BSV members
$155 for concession holders
$200 for non members
The cost includes 2 nights of shared accommodation, vegetarian meals and a $75 registration fee to the Nirodhatrust. The price does not include donations for the teachings.

5. Dana (Offering of meals) to the Monastic at the BSV Malvern East centre
The Dana (Offering of meals) roster for the monastic residing at the BSV Malvern East centre is now listed on BSV Calendar which you can view on the BSV website, www.bsv.net.au.
To provide dana to the monk(s) on a particular day, you can either call the BSV office on 03 9571 6409 between 10am to 2pm, or email off...@bsv.net.au. If you email, please provide your name, phone contact number and the date of your choice.
