Please see below the news and program for this week.
1. BSV Robe Offering celebration on Sunday 20th October from 9:30am to 10:30am
BSV 2013 Robe Offering to the Sangha will be conducted on Sunday morning, 20th Oct at the BSV Malvern East centre. Note that this is a combined Buddhaloka and Sanghamittarama Robe Offering celebration.
Devotees who are looking for items to offer to the Sanghas during the ceremony may wish to consider the following items:
· Candles for the shrine, white or cream style ones.
· Kitchen paper roll towels
· Toilet paper
· Cleaning liquids such as hand wash, dish washing(hand), toilet washing
· Cleaning cloth
· Sponges, scourers for cleaning
· Bin bags, garbage bags
· Foil for food wrapping
· Printing paper, white
· Printing paper, colored for notices
2. BSV Fund Raising Breakfast with the Community – another BSV Forest Monastery Fund raising event
Enjoy your Saturday morning breakfast within the peaceful environment of the BSV Malvern East centre. All proceeds from this breakfast go towards the BSV Forest Monastery project. Details are as follow:
When: Saturday, 19th October, from 7am to 11am
Where: Front yard, courtyard and car parking area at the BSV Malvern East centre
Food: A variety of breakfast offerings varying from Continental to Asian
Prices: Between $10 to $25
Please tell and bring your family and friends to support this meritorious cause.
Please email BSV office, (off...@bsv.net.au) with the word “Breakfast” in the Subject matter, of your intention to attend and the approximate number of people likely to attend. Your advice would help us to in our catering.
3. Next 8 Precepts 24 Hours Observation at the BSV starting on Saturday, 16thth Nov @ 7:30am to Sunday, 17th closing @ 8:00am
A number of the participants, who attended the last event, have requested for this event to be conducted on a more regular basis. We are very happy to advise that the next 8 Precepts 24 Hours Observation will be conducted on the above stated date at the BSV Malvern East centre. To ensure that there are sufficient “sitting area space” for the 8 Preceptors within the BSV Meditation Hall, to practise their meditation comfortably, the number of 8 Preceptors participating in this event, will be limited to 40. Registration to participate in this event will be closed once the number has been reached. Details and rules are the same as applied in the previous sessions. The rules will be posted closer to the date.

4. Volunteers to provide lunch and breakfast dana for the monastics and 8 Preceptors on the above listed date for the 24 hours 8 Precepts Observation weekend.
We are very grateful to the Lunch and breakfast dana providers who were very generous in helping to prepare meals for the monastics and 8 Preceptors during last few events.
For this coming event, we are inviting volunteers to prepare lunch and/or breakfast dana meals for the monastics, 8 Preceptors and participants. If you are happy to help out, please email your interest to Padmini Perera on pad...@egoof.com.
5. Sunday Teaching Program for the month of Oct’13
The Sunday teaching program scheduled for the month of October’13 is listed below:
a) 20th October: BSV Robe Offering Celebration.
b) 27th October: Questions and answers with Ayya Upekkha and Ven Jag. Please submit questions by the Friday prior.
6. Residential Weekend Retreat conducted by Venerable Jag : 29th Nov to 2nd Dec’13
We are grateful that Ven Jag will be conducting a 4-day weekend residential retreat on the above stated date. Further details about the place, cost and registration will be posted shortly.
7. BSV Residential Retreat conducted by Ajana Brahma
From 4th April to 13th April 2013. Further details will be provided.
8. Dana (Offering of meals) to the Monastic at the BSV Malvern East centre
The Dana (Offering of meals) roster for the monastic residing at the BSV Malvern East centre is now listed on BSV Calendar which you can view on the BSV website, www.bsv.net.au.
To provide dana to the monk(s) on a particular day, you can either call the BSV office on 03 9571 6409 between 10am to 2pm, or email off...@bsv.net.au. If you email, please provide your name, phone contact number and the date of your choice.
9. Lunch Dana for the Nuns at the BSV Sanghamittarama Centre
