Please see below the news and program for this week.
1. BSV Fund Raising Breakfast with the Community
BSV is seeking your kind and generous support in their effort to establish a Forest Monastery. Enjoy your Saturday morning breakfast within the peaceful environment of the BSV Malvern East centre. All proceeds from this breakfast go towards the BSV Forest Monastery project. Details are as follow:
When: Saturday, 19th October, from 7am to 11am
Where: Front yard, courtyard and car parking area at the BSV Malvern East centre
Food: A variety of breakfast offerings varying from Continental to Asian
Prices: Between $10 to $25
Please tell and bring your family and friends to support this meritorious cause.
Please email BSV office, (off...@bsv.net.au) with the word “Breakfast” in the Subject matter, of your intention to attend and the approximate number of people likely to attend. Your advice would help us to in our catering.
2. Calling for things to lend the BSV Fund Raising Team
The Fund Raising team will need to use a number of items to run the above Breakfast event. If you have any of the following items that you can lend to the team for the day, please email the BSV Office of your intention and the date and time that you can bring the item BSV:
· Toasters
· Coffee making machine (including Cappuccino)
· Waffle making machine
3. Sunday Teaching Program for the month of Sept’13
The Sunday teaching program scheduled for the month of September’13 is listed below:
a) 22nd September: Dhamma talk by Ven Jag.
b) 29th September: Questions and answers with Ayya Upekkha and Ven Jag. Please submit questions by the Friday prior.
4. Volunteers / Helpers to help out on the day of the 8 Precepts 24 Hours Observation on 28th Sept
We need a few volunteers / helpers to carry out some activities onsite. Some of the chores include welcoming & registering participants and ushering them to their resting area, kitchen duties (ie. tea/coffee & water urn), toilet cleaning, and time keeping & ringing the bell, etc.
If you are happy to assist in carrying out some of the chores, please email me of your intention and the type of chores that would be happy to assist in.
5. 8 Precepts 24 Hours Observation at the BSV starting on Saturday, 28thth Sept @ 7:30am to Sunday, 29th closing @ 8:00am.
This is a 24 hours 8 Precepts Observation at the BSV with participants arrival at 7:30am for a 8am start on Saturday morning, 28th Sept to the next morning, Sunday, 29th Sept closing at 8:00am. Participants will be observing noble silence, meditating and contemplating, and observing the 8 precepts. Lunch and breakfast will be provided onsite to the participants. This is made possible by the generous support of a small group of BSV supporters and volunteers.
Interested participants must email their personal details to register for this event by Monday 23rd Sept. You can send your email to sanghami...@gmail.com with the heading “8PreceptsDay:” follow by your name, gender in the Email Subject line. In the email, please provide your phone number.
Details about the 24hours 8-precepts Observation will be posted on the BSV Notice Board at Malvern East and Bentleigh East centres, as well as in the BSV electronic calendar on the BSV website.
Please note that it is not mandatory that you stay for the whole 24hours duration at the BSV Malvern East centre, although participants are encouraged to do so. You can attend at whichever time convenient to yourself. That is you can come for any number of hours, or go home in the evening and come back in the next morning by 5am.
This is a great opportunity for everyone to practise their meditation mindfully, whilst observing the 8 precepts in a supportive environment.
6. Dana (Offering of meals) to the Monastic at the BSV Malvern East centre
The Dana (Offering of meals) roster for the monastic residing at the BSV Malvern East centre is now listed on BSV Calendar which you can view on the BSV website, www.bsv.net.au.
To provide dana to the monk(s) on a particular day, you can either call the BSV office on 03 9571 6409 between 10am to 2pm, or email off...@bsv.net.au. If you email, please provide your name, phone contact number and the date of your choice.
7. Lunch Dana for the Nuns at the BSV Sanghamittarama Centre
