I have just written to ASUU (national) through the local Benue State
University Chapter over an equation that is used to 'correct' students
marks if they scored wrongly in an objective type test.
I wish to spearhead the rejection of a marks-devouring equation that
is about to creep into the Nigerian universities’ system through the
setting of objective type questions for undergraduates.
There is a satanic equation called 'scores correction formula' for
guessing of answers, a punishment for candidates who are perceived to
have guessed wrongly. The equation has been responsible for massive
JAMB, WAEC and NECO failures as it devours the few marks that
candidates actually score thus publicizing lower than actually scored
marks.
The equation has been designed to accompany objective type questions
and is a punitive measure if a candidate fails to choose any correct
answer.
Find attached full text of the letter.
