The Benue State University Congregation January 23 re-electted Prof.
Targema Iorvaa as congregational representative to Council. Iorvaa
polled 104 to beat closest rival Dr Andrew Abah a senior lecturer (27
votes) and Dr Gabriel Nyityo an associate professor (20 votes).
Prof. Iorvaa accepted the renewed mandate bestowed on him. He promised
to represent the university community more than before at Council.
Chairperson at the congregation and Vice Chancellor Prof. Charity
Angya remarked after the election that ‘Iorvaa says it as it is and
keeps the council on its toes.’ She wished the losers good luck next
time, noting that it is difficult to unseat an incumbent.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Ogah Ajene and the
Registrar Dr Timothy Utile attended the Congregational meeting. Prof.
(Fr) Moses Orhungur was the electoral committee chairman with members
as Dr Member Genyi and Mr. S. Yongo.
