"Sewa International is a ‘not-for-profit' organization for promoting voluntarism internationally especially among children, youth, women and energetic senior citizens. Sewa International provides relief to the affected during calamities, natural and /or man-made, and rehabilitate them with due care and human affection.

The international coordinator of Sewa International, Mr. K.G. Parande, a renowned social thinker and a person of grass-root work experience will deliver a talk about -

Abour Mr. K.G. Parande:
Born & brought up in Nagpur, India, Civil Engineer by Education.
Joined the rehabilitation programme in Andhra Pradesh in 1978 being run by Sewa Bharati, Andhra Pradesh - post devastating tidal wave/cyclone that killed thousands of people and left more homeless.
His work includes:
  • Homes for Destitute boys.
  • Free hostels for Tribal and socially deprived students.
  • A home for destitute girls.
  • A project for informal education of street children in the city of Hyderabad/Secunderabad- funded by International Labour Organisation.
Presently, International Coordinator for Sewa International, encouraging voluntary social service with partners in 16 countries and Secretary for Shri Vishwa Niketan, a trust that works among the PIOs and NRIs.

Successfully executed rehabilitation program in 18 villages in Gujarat, India after the devastating earthquake in 2001. Also involved in rehabilitation of 1500 families in Tamil Nadu, Andaman & Nicobar, and Kerala States of India and in Batticaloa & Ampara districts of Sri Lanka.

Conducted an International Seminar on “Promoting voluntary social service- sewa- in India and abroad”, at IIC, New Delhi in 2000.

As Secretary Sewa International, invited to 29th Evangelical Protestant Congress at Frankfurt, Germany in June 2001- submitted a paper on “Hindu Concept of Sewa”.

Live contact and regular communication with Indian community in 90 countries, through SVN and SIB. Has traveled to America, Europe, Middle East and South East Asia.

Instrumental for relief and rehabilitation for the Tsunami affected in the states of Tamil Nadu, Andaman & Nicobar, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh in Bharat and in Sri Lanka also.

Invited to present a paper at St. Petersburg Russia on “Social empowerment through Charity” at the international conference on Charity in June 2006.

Called on HE Governor of Louisiana State Ms. Cathleen Blanco for contributing to the relief and rehabilitation fund for the Katrina cyclone affected in 2006.  

Secretary for Anter Rashtriya Sahyog Parishad, Delhi. ARSP was instrumental in starting the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas organized by Govt. of India and works for PIO and NRI community across the globe.

Lives in Delhi with his wife and 2 children.
