Hi BSR team!
I'm passing along the message from our managing editor Sam (CC'd) for anyone who missed it on Slack.
Issue 49 should be arriving soon, and we want to make sure that as many people as possible get the chance to enjoy it. One way to do that is by hyping up our articles with some...
~~social media engagement~~
Did you know we have an
instagram!? 🤯
But it doesn't have very many followers 😔
Let's change that! 😼
These are some things we all can do (listed in order of effort needed from you):
1. Every article is going to get an instagram and bluesky post. If you send Sam your handle, he'll tag in you in the posts that mention an article you worked on. (If you have already done this no need to do it again)
2. When you see a post about your article (or just an article you think is cool), repost it! Even if you don't have a lot of followers, it will help. To help facilitate this, Sam will also message on Slack on the day that he plans to post about an article. If you are not a regular social media user, you can use that as your cue to log on and treat your followers to a rare insta story update 👀
3. Make your own post of you or a friend reading the magazine! Perhaps you are casually leafing through while sitting in the sun and sipping espresso––just as any nonchalant, vibey, completely unstressed grad student would. But for real, the magazines look sooo enticing. Let's show them off.
4. Ok, this is the highest effort one but also the highest impact: Consider making a short video about your article. This could be the writer talking directly to camera about why what they wrote is cool. It could be a time lapse of a sick element of the design coming together. It could be anything in between. This will be our first time putting out this type of content, so we'll want to experiment and see what works best. Whatever it is, we think it could help a lot with getting more eyes on our work!
Thanks everyone for all your hard work making Issue 49 come to life! I'll be in touch again once it's time to coordinate distribution.
Cheers,
Kat
