A lot of you might already know Councilman Mr. Rajiv Prasad of Franklin Township. Please show your support to him and our local political representation by attending the Council meeting tonight, Tuesday, September 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the Council Chambers, Franklin Township, 475 Demott Lane, Somerset NJ.

Please note that neither you have to be a constituent of Franklin Township nor you have to say anything during the meeting. Just your presence will show the strength behind Mr. Prasad in his support.

Councilman Rajiv Prasad and the Town Council approved two cricket fields and the Dada Bhagwan temple on South Middlebush Road in Franklin Township.

 

He is up for re-election on November 3 and his opponents have used this to sling mud at him. They first claimed that he called the social media opposition to the cricket fields racist. When he denied that the reporter did an OPRA request and an email was released to the Police Chief requesting him to investigate the social media hate speech, to prevent any mentally weak person from being influenced by it and shooting at the worshipers, like what happened in Charleston SC or at a Gurdwara  in Oak Creek WI two years ago, where 30 people died. This was done at the request of the worshipers to keep them safe. The opposition called it abuse of power to silence the opposition and asked for him to resign.

 

The Council Meeting is on Tuesday Sept. 8 at 7 PM, at Town Hall, 475 Demott Lane, Somerset NJ 08873. The Republican opposition will be there in full force. He needs the community to show up and show support in huge numbers to counter the opposition. Even if you do not live in Franklin Township you can come and sit in the Council Chambers and it will help to cool down the rhetoric of the opposition. We need to let them know that the Indian American Community is here to stay and we will stand up for our rights to pray and play. These are quality of life issues. Please show up and show your support. Sorry for the late notice. Please try and make it. The Community needs your help.

 

The plan is to be very peaceful, without any negative comments. The community thanks Councilman Prasad for successfully serving Franklin residents for the last 9 years. It also thanks the Council for its support of Diversity, Unity and Harmony. It is grateful for their support of the Houses of Worship and active recreation in Parks. It supports these efforts and urges the Council to continue on their path to a better quality of life for all.  

 

Please come and show your support for Councilman Prasad. He is the only Asian representing 21% of the population. He needs your help and support, to continue fighting for you. Come show to the opposition he is not alone and that the community is united and behind him.
