פריז, 1895. ז'ורז' פיקאר, קצין צעיר אמביציוזי, צופה במרגל מורשע, אלפרד דרייפוס, מושפל בפומבי מול המון זועם ונידון למאסר עולם באי השדים. פיקאר, שזה עתה מונה לעמוד בראש יחידת המודיעין שהביאה את הראיות כנגד דרייפוס, בטוח באשמתו. אבל זמן קצר אחרי שדרייפוס מתחיל לרַצות את עונשו, מתעוררים ספקות. יש רמזים לכך שעדיין מסתובב מרגל בשורות הצבא. כשפיקאר מתחיל לחקור, הוא נסחף למבוך מסוכן של מרמה ושחיתות, שמעלה בו ספקות לגבי כל מה שהאמין בו, ומאיים לא רק על כבודו אלא גם על חייו

Among the witnesses to his humiliation is Georges Picquart, who is promoted to run the military counter-intelligence unit that tracked him down. But when Picquart discovers that secrets are still being handed over to the Germans, he is drawn into a dangerous labyrinth of deceit and corruption that threatens not just his honor but his life.
