משפחת קאדם עוזבת את הודו ומתיישבת בלומייר, עיירה קטנה באלפים הצרפתיים. קשה להעלות על הדעת מקום מרוחק יותר ממומביי או שונה ממנו, אולם גם בלומייר מחליטים בני משפחת קאדם לעשות את מה שהם יודעים לעשות הכי טוב: להכין אוכל הודי. הם מקימים מסעדה קטנה שסוחפת אחריה לקוחות רבים מהאזור. מי שאינה רואה את נוכחותם בעין יפה היא שכנתם השמרנית, מאדאם מאלורי – שפית של מסעדה צרפתית מסורתית הממוקמת במרחק מאה צעדים מזאת החדשה של משפחת קאדם. זוהי מערכה קולינרית מורכבת המתחוללת בין מאדאם מאלורי למשפחת קאדם, אך גם לחברות בלתי צפויה שמתפתחת לה בהדרגה ומפיחה רוח של תקווה וסובלנות.

THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY
In "The Hundred-Foot Journey," Hassan Kadam (Manish Dayal) is a culinary ingénue with the gastronomic equivalent of perfect pitch. Displaced from their native India, the Kadam family, led by Papa (Om Puri), settles in the quaint village of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val in the south of France. Filled with charm, it is both picturesque and elegant - the ideal place to settle down and open an Indian restaurant, the Maison Mumbai. That is, until the chilly chef proprietress of Le Saule Pleureur, a Michelin starred, classical French restaurant run by Madame Mallory (Academy Award (R)-winner Helen Mirren), gets wind of it.
