Hi Guys,

Its been recommended that chain be lubricated every 500 kms. Can anyone suggest which lubricant is best to use. My service centre is ready to give me a lubricant for around 900 rs which he says will last for 5/6 times of application, however I am not sure if the same is available outside at a cheaper rate..

Also, I'd like to know how easy is it to lubricate the chain if I have to do it myself.

Thanks,
Chiragzz

Hey dude,,,

even the ulhasnagar showroom from i got the R15 suggested the same thing, made by Motul i guess...one is a chain clean and the other is a chain lube...it works good...and outside rate is also more or less the same...

lubricating the chain is not that difficult...only thing is that you will need to arrange a stand for the bike so that the rear tyre can rotate when the bike is standstill so that you can lubricate the chain...you can take help from a local mech for the same if required...

Hey Guys,
Lubricating the chain is very important. It helps to increase the chain & sprocket life. R15 does not have chain guard, hence lubricating the chin is very essential. there are no rules like you have to lubricate only after 500km. You can easily make out whether the chain is dry  just by looking or touching it. the chain usually gets dry after riding in the rain or water wash. the chain gets dirty if you riding dusty environment. in the both the cases lubricating becomes necessary. before lubricating wipe the dirt in the chain using a cloth or using at chain cleaner. you can lubricate with any engine oil (SAE20W40 or SAE15W40). avoid lubricating when wet as it will bel ess effective. never allow rust formation in chain.

Ride safely.....
