The Marriott one we looked at or the RenCen Conference center that we haven't seen yet?

I have always liked the rencen as a venue. I do not object to either.  How was BSidesSF? Any great ideas?  I'm really looking forward to BSidesCLE tomorrow.

BSidesSF was amazing, talked to Jack and Mike a fair bit, as well as Mike's wife, who helped get everything together, and feeling really good. The Conference Center, that we haven't really seen yet. I'm going to be following up with them and confirming that it is the place we want to be based on compatibility with security, and cost of mandatory catering, internet, etc.

Actually just spoke with a buddy that consults for them. He said if the size fits they would be interested in hosting it. I am waiting on specs on their meeting space to see if it even fits.

I'm working contract there. The Detroit cloud group was using part of the Cafeteria on the second floor. It's pretty decent sized. I didn't see where Mobile Monday was meeting at.

I fired off emails last Wednesday to appropriate parties at Compuware, hope to hear back soon. Let me know if you hear anything first. I do believe we have settled on the RenCen unless I get fantastic answers from Compuware though.

I pinged my contact about all things we have been discussing.  Their venue (although I'm with you Kyle, it would have to be spectacular and fit our size) as well as sponsorship opportunities.  We'll see what comes about.

Their venue isn't awful, you can see parts of it by visiting the compuware website, and then going to the corporate HQ page, and checking out images; it is really spectacular, but if the rooms are too far apart, or if we are limited to the auditorium, I don't see that being ideal. I pinged Ray, I'm not sure whether he is your contact or not, but I have yet to hear back. Here's to hoping.

My contact is just an old colleague that now works in their app development area I think.  He has been there since they moved to Detroit.  He just said he was going to bring it up with their IS and development staff as they may be interested in the conference.  He also said that there are groups within Compuware that are trying to push for more events like this on site to promote Detroit and the tech community.  The thing I really like about Compuware is that they would probably donate the space free of charge.  Which is the biggest plus.  That said I still love the ren cen....

You are right though Kyle the Compuware auditorium is hawt.  He said the auditorium would hold 200-250 people but being a two day conference may make it less likely they would want to allow use of the space with Security not being a big industry for Compuware and the fact that they compete for that meeting space with Quicken Loans.

He was going to check it out though.

I like it, kinda would like to see something along the lines of the old Motown Records or "Imported from Detroit" theme worked in there somehow.  I like how he's got some rear end parts in the image.  I like the direction he has went with it and saying "Motor City BSides", I really like that.
