For any of you interested in an open source alternative to NHibernate or the Entity Framework.
I'm still digging into what has changed.

Basically a small Linux base with Chrome running on it to act as front end to Google apps in the cloud.

Google Chrome OS is a new project, separate from Android. Android was designed from the beginning to work across a variety of devices from phones to set-top boxes to netbooks. Google Chrome OS is being created for people who spend most of their time on the web, and is being designed to power computers ranging from small netbooks to full-size desktop systems.

I am curious how nervous this is making Microsoft.

Microsoft has always been paranoid, so now doubt this will intensify things. However, I think a nastier fight will ensue between Google and Apple.

I'm waiting to see if there will be a three-way cage fight between them.
As for Microsoft's perspective: If you are the lead dog and you aren't a bit paranoid, you will soon loose your position.

True. But how much paranoid should you be? Remember how Microsoft
freaked out about Netscape, because they thought Netscape would become
an OS? I supposed it could have been true, but it seemed a bit odd to
me at the time.

Personally, I believe Netscape would have been fine if they had delivered good products.  When IE4 was competing with Netscape 4, IE was vastly superior and MUCH more stable.  Each point release of Netscape would break web sites in entirely new ways.

That is funny.  Good to see they can joke and be friendly.

This is interesting. I would be thrilled to try out a google os.

I see a triple boot on the rise for me : Win XP Pro, Ubuntu Jaunty Jackelope, Google Chrome OS.

I can just see it now:
Gates, "Ha ha, that's very funny Eric!" Gates thinks to himself, "I
wish all these pesky reporters weren't always hovering around us. If
they weren't here, I'd strangle this guy..."
