Not sure about you, but I'm really missing our BDSG meetings. I know a lot has changed over the last couple of years, and if you aren't quite ready for face to face interaction we could live stream too.

Thoughts? Who is interested? Do we have any locations?

Yep, I was meaning to bring this up myself as well.

Anyone have a topic? I can talk with BoiseCodeWorks about a room.

Ideas for topics (firing from the hip):
- remote work and its pros/cons over the past 2 years
- the emerging popularity of technologies like gRPC or graphQL as opposed to RESTful APIs
- a look at the functional programming paradigm and maybe some design patterns which fit within the paradigm
- WebAssembly as a rising technology and its tradeoffs compared to containerization of applications

I can always come up with topics. Been working with Python a lot recently.

Yes, I would be interested in a talk about ASP.NET Blazor WebAssembly by someone who has used it in a project and how it performed…

I've been doing work in Blazor WebAssembly and would be happy to discuss that at some point.

Hi everyone,

Jake got back with me, we have Sept 22 open for us to meet at Boise Code Works.  I will try to figure out a consistent night for us to meet as well (fingers crossed)

Doug, can you give a talk about Blazor?

We should also talk about Code Camp! 😊

That is also on my agenda.

To fill everyone in, Scott Nichols wants to "pursue other interests". He has been helping run code camp for 14 years and wants to hand it off to someone else. So Scott has been the lead organizer, as well as run the financial side of things.

And truthfully, I'm also tired, I'm ready to do other things as well. I've been helping/leading every code camp since the beginning.

Thanks for all the years of running it, to both of you. It's a huge amount of work that goes largely unseen, much like software. I can't step up, and understand the need to step down.

I am down. It's been years since I've done any developing and I want to get active again, network, and build up my portfolio.

Scott, Gregg, Chris,
Thanks for all the amazing organizing of code camp, it's easily my favorite tech event in Boise.  From the standpoint of an attendee and speaker, it runs like a well oiled machine which is a huge task to pull off.  I'd like to chat with you guys sometime soon to understand what goes into planning it, and see if I can help keep it going into the future.
Thanks,
Jeremy Zerr

I’d be interested in hearing about what’s involved as well. Depending on what the needs are, I may be able to help a bit.

Chris, thanks for the invite. I don't think I can have a presentation ready by next week, but I can plan to do that for an October meeting if that works.

The first meeting back could be mostly social, and planning. Maybe go around the room and get mid-pandemic updates from people. :^)

Ok everyone,

I have an idea. I think I half like Gregg's idea of being social, mixed in with one of Ryan Marion's ideas, which is just talking thru Pros and Cons of working remote for the last couple of years. We can make it more of a round table/open discussion as opposed to a prepared meeting.

The meeting will be Sept 22, 6 pm, at Boise Code Works. 8455 Westpark St, Boise, ID 83704

Also, keep in mind, they moved since we had our last meeting at Boise Code Works.

I remotely support anti-social social gatherings.

Thanks Chris!

Oh, and Boise Code Works is providing pizza, so do RSVP on Meetup so they know how much to get....

And be sure to tell Jake thanks!

This is cool. Ok if I let a couple of other Meetups know about it (since it’s a cool topic too)?
