Orienteering Course Proposal

Good afternoon,

With everyone back from Acadia, I just want to reconfirm the conversation we had at our Troop Meeting on Thursday.  At that time, it seemed like having an Orienteering on Thursday morning, August 8th was the best time to organize an orienteering course which would meet 1st Class Requirement 4a. Those participating in the Orienteering Course will also have to estimate the height of a tall item.  Read pages 329 to 331 in the Handbook to become familiar with measuring heights and widths.

My proposal is to start running the course at 10:00 am in the morning of the 8th.  Clay and Felix indicated that they might be able to help set up the course.  It would take about an hour to set up.  Depending on the number of participants, we should be done around noon.

Please let me know by tomorrow if you would like to participate in the Orienteering Course.  I will then confirm details on Wednesday

Hello scouts,

Just some thoughts on this event. There are many requirements and we can do throughout the year due to the nature of the requirements. Other requirements, because they require specific equipment, circumstances or conditions are offered with much less frequency. As a result, I would encourage any and all scouts to make use of this opportunity, simply because it could be   many months before we were able to organize this event again.    I enjoy this requirement because it feels more like a game rather than a task. Have fun!
