Odes to Love and Nature Event

Hi everyone,

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Battle of Spices Event today! It was a huge success. For our next event, The Bengali Students Association is co-sponsoring a poetry & literature event with the Penn Bangladesh Society --“Odes to Love and Nature: Nature and Romanticism in the Bengal”,  November 12^th in the Golkin  Room, Houston Hall. This is a two-part event which features a performing arts group called Alindo. The first part of the event includes performances of a medley of Bengali poems and monologues compiled from different periods and different regions of the Bengal and features the works of famous Bengali poets and playwrights such as Rabindranath Tagore, Shamsur Rahman, Kazi Nazrul Islam, et al. The Second part presents an acoustic drama (srutinatok) "Bori" based on a story written by Sanjib Chatterjee. The selected poems share a common theme: How love/romanticism and nature are portrayed in Bengali poems and literature.
