Minutes of BSANU Executive Meeting

Venue                         : Shortland Building, University of Newcastle                                                                                

  Date                            : Wednesday, May 27, 2012                                                                                              

  Time                          : 12.00 – 1.00 PM

Present                          : Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Mohammad M. Rahman, Nazmus Shaker Nafi,  Reduan  Khan, Rukhsana Tajin, Sazol Kumar Kundu and Subhankar Biswas.

Agenda of the Meeting:

1. Membership fee
2. Bangladeshi High Commissioner visit to the University
3. Iftar party

 

Md Akhtaruzzaman, President of the Bangladesh Students’ Association of Newcastle University presided over the meeting.

Ø Membership fees:  Reminder to all members for the monthly fees up to June 2012. All members are requested to deposit $5 x 3 = $15 for 3 months (April-June) fees to the account below:

Ø Bangladeshi High Commissioner visit to the University: Date confirmed by the University authority and HE High Commissioner of Bangladesh:

Date: 22 August

Time: 2.00 – 5.00 PM

 

The program schedule/outline is pending approval from the VC office.

 

Guests: Honourable Vice-chancellor, Deputy Vice-chancellor (International Relations) and Honourable High Commissioner of Bangladesh.

 

           Action need to be done:

i)                    Discuss with faculty members (Bangladeshi origin) regarding the meeting with University Administration together with HE High Commissioner, after getting the approval from the VC office that Academics will join the meeting.

ii)                  BSANU president will present our achievements.

iii)                Request to High-commissioner to emphasize “Contribution of Bangladeshi Students’ towards Australia” and/or “Bangladesh- the undiscovered paradise” in his speech.

iv)                A video presentation on Bangladesh has to be organised.

v)                  Cultural Events:                       a) Poetry (group performed by Bangladeshi students)

                                                b) Rabindra Song

                                                c) Classical dance

                                                d) Folk song

Date: 27 or 28 July, 2012 (contingent upon venue availability from NUPSA)

Time: Iftar time
