CAMPOUT LOCATION CHANGE

Due to damage from the recent storm, Purgatory Chasm is now closed to all camping. We will, however, still be camping this weekend!
We have made arrangements with the Park Ranger at Riverbend Farm and we have been given permission to camp at the Rice City Pond area in Uxbridge. This is a fantastic pine grove area with plenty of open space, a great hiking trail to Lookout Rock, and plenty of firewood for cooking and campfires. The ranger confirmed he has personally inspected the site and it is safe for camping this weekend. He did ask if we could do a short service project Saturday afternoon during our stay. We will be clearing any small debris from the trail to Lookout Rock as a way to say thank you for accomodating our troop on such short notice.
We will still be gathering at the church on Friday afternoon at 5 pm and departing for Uxbridge at 5:30 sharp. Rice City Pond is located on Hartford Ave E, just after the Tri-River Health Center in Uxbridge. (There is a small brown storage shed and driveway on the left-hand side of the road. Our campsite is down the short dirt road.)
