Greetings Unit Leaders and Unit Popcorn Kernels from 2013,

My name is Ginger Cope, and I will be serving as the District Popcorn
Kernel for this year's popcorn sale. I just received some information
about the popcorn sale and wanted to pass along the info ASAP so you
can start preparing for take off!

First, though, I am using a Unit Leader and Unit Popcorn Kernel list
from last year, so if there have been any changes or you wish to be
removed from future emails, please let me know. (Apologies if you get
multiple emails - I am using two lists - Unit Leaders and Unit Popcorn
Kernels)

Popcorn is a great way to fund your year of scouting. Every dollar
earned from popcorn sales is a dollar that parents do not have to pay.
Many units find that commissions from popcorn sales can fund their
year as well as send scouts to camps throughout the year. Last year,
the Council sold over $800,000 of popcorn! Let's beat that mark this
year!

Currently, the Camp Masters system is not up and running - they are a
bit late this year getting started. As soon as the system is up, we
will let you know, and you can log on and register your unit.

I want to take a moment and invite you to the District Popcorn
Kickoff. This year, we are holding the event on Saturday, August 16,
2014, from 10:00 - 11:30 am, at the New River Valley Airport in Dublin
(5391 C.V. Jackson Rd. Bldg. 4 Dublin VA, 24084). Light Refreshments
will be served. We will also be giving out some door prizes, and a
tour of the airport will follow the Kickoff event. Please RSVP to me
as soon as possible with your name and unit number if you plan to
attend - the more, the merrier!

In addition to our District Popcorn Kickoff, the weekend before, the
Council will be offering Michael Beck Training to anyone who is
interested. There are two dates for this and three sessions. The
first is August 9, 2014. The first session will run from 9am - 11am
in Chatham at Hargrave Military Academy. The second session will run
from 2pm - 4pm at Bonsack United Methodist Church. On August 10,
2014, one session will be held at Clator Lake Aquatics Base from 1pm -
3pm. If you, parents, or scouts are interested in attending the
training, please email Shirley Neiderhiser (shir...@bsa-brmc.org) as
soon as possible with the session you would like to attend and the
number of folks attending from your unit.

Additionally, if you commit to sell popcorn by August 8, 2014, AND
commit to send member(s) of your unit to one of the training sessions,
an additional 2% commission is available to your unit. Again, email
Shirley Neiderhiser (shir...@bsa-brmc.org) with your unit's
commitment to sell popcorn.

If you have any questions about any information disseminated thus far,
please do not hesitate to email me, Chris Dempsey, or Phyllis Newbill,
the District Sales and Training Kernel (pnew...@vt.edu). We will do
our best to assist you in a timely manner. As additional information
becomes available to us, we will forward it to you.
