Recent Wood Badge Staffers and Participants,
One of the special moments during the Wood Badge course is the
watching/discussing of the October Sky movie featuring the story of
how Homer Hickham overcame many obstacles to achieve success. I wanted
to let you know that Homer Hickham will actually be in our area for a
rocket launch and that Wood Badge Scouters and associated Scouts are
welcome to attend; see information below. His visit is part of the
50th class reunion since his graduation from Virginia Tech.
I have been told that this event is not open to the public.
I do not have any information beyond what is in this email, and I
understand that the email distribution list I used to reach you may
have had a couple of repeated names causing those folks to receive
redundant emails.

Rocket Launch With Homar Hickham:

Rocket Launches: 10AM-6:00PM
Homer Hickham Attends: 10:00AM-1:00PM
Location: Kentland Farms, Whitehourse Road, Blacksburg, Virginia
Admission: Free
Parking: Quite limited; on farmland; carpools highly recommended
Rockets: Many shapes and sizes; including a few 12 foot tall rockets
going up on motor producing 500 pounds of thrust
Other: A food vendor selling hot dogs and port-a-potties will be on site
