Hey guys,

I hope that you all are remaining safe after last night and todays events.

First- Congratulation to the new board. I hope you all are excited about serving in your position next year. I am confident that you all will do an amazing job and I am looking forward to all of the great events that you all will put on.

Second- we have to meet as a board to finalize a couple positions. I have created a doodle form that I will attach at the end of the email so that we can find a time to meet as a group. This meeting is mandatory because we need everyone to vote on these positions. Now that Visitas is canceled I hope that everyone has a bit more free time. I should also note that if the situation in the greater Boston area is not resolved by Sunday we will make alternate plans. The meeting should only take an hour as well will not have our transitional meeting until we have a full board. The meeting will most likely take place in Mather but if there is another location that works better I will let you know.

Hey Guys!

I have an idea! What if we complied a video of various members of BSA to send to the prefrosh?!?! They/we can express to them how much we want them to come to Harvard as well as what the black community has meant to us. We can ask blocking groups to send a short video(10-60secs) made on a laptop, camera, or phone showing their enthusiasm for Harvard or "Black Harvard". We can hopefully get their emails from UMRP. What do you guys think?

I agree  I was also wondering if we could do a virtual BCL conference call/video with the prefrosh so they could see/hear all of the BCL organizations. 

Thoughts? 

And if this is something we want to do lets draft an email asap so that people can do this while they are stuck in their rooms!

Yeah, I agree with Tiffany. The boards of each organization should send a video to BCL. They can compile them and send them out. They can also just give the prefrosh our conatct information too. 

I really think we should have a separate one of the members to send out.

Love this idea!!! It could be like the BCL BBQ minus the chicken lol.

It shouldn't be too hard for at least the pres and vps of each org to meet over the weekend if the whole board can't meet. 

We should send something out ASAP about blacking group videos.

Ok so Ade can you send out an email to the list and then people can send the videos to the general BSA account and we could all help edit. I will email the BCL list to see if we can get a video together- I do think we should try and do something interactive so the Pre frosh can ask questions and what not but I will ask the BCL if this is something they want to do organize.

Well we are have a board meeting Sunday so I thought we can do a board video then. But okay, Pres and VP can work too.

Here is my draft email. Can someone edit it and touch it up? Like add color and all that jazz. And if someone wants to make it more concise, that's cool too.

The BSA Board hopes everyone is safe and calm in light of all that is happening. As you may know, Visitas is cancelled. Visitas is an important deciding factor for many people, especially the BCL BBQ and other Black organization events.

In an effort to not leave the prefrosh without an impression of the Black Community before they make their college decision, BSA would like to send a video to the Black 2017 prefrosh.

So calling all Freshman, Sophmores, Juniors (even those abroad), and Seniors!

Get together with your friends, blackmates, or just you and send a short video (10sec-2min) to Ade (apop...@college.harvard.edu) expressing why you love Harvard, what the black community has meant to you, and/or why the prefrosh should choose Harvard.  This can be a simple as blockmates simultaneously saying, "We love Harvard!" or " We love the Black Community! Come to Harvard!" or it can be a creative a song/rap or funny video. Also, if you have any videos in your own inventory from a black event or even you and your friends acting crazy somewhere on campus, please send it!

This video can be done using your laptop, camera, or cellphone. If the file is too big to put in an email, please use dropbox.com and share it to Ade's email. Please send them in as soon as possible but Sunday at 5pm at the latest.

Remember how much Visitas meant  to you and how important it was to your college decision. Let's not leave these prefrosh without a chance to get to know us!
