Hello,

This is a plea for help.
Our Business Studies teacher is a complete idiot - he has not even
given us the syllabus - when I asked him if he would provide it, or
whether it was necessary for me to look at at all - he told me it
would only confuse me.. He uses the Endorsed Stimspon textbook. His
notes are based on this entirely, he uses the topics which are listed
in the index of it to teach from as opposed to the topics in the
syllabus, His notes are merely copied out from the textbook, he uses
every single subheading in the textbook and summarizes every piece of
information. He is very slow in marking work. He is an egoistic guy
who loves himself. When I tried to ask him a question about what
whether he would choose to do Marketing or People in Organisations
next after Business and the Environment, as the textbook says Unit 2
is Marketing and the syllabus says Unit 2 is People in Organisations,
he tells me it's 'classified information', and 'none of my business'.
I'm not fond of this useless teacher.

Anyway, I also take Economics as a private candidate for CIE, and I do
it with a private tutor who is absolutely amazing. He said he would be
willing to teach me the Business Studies syllabus, and is aware that
my BS teacher is a jerk as he worked with him before years back in
another school. I will have to meet my Economics teacher around three
times a week in order to get to a reasonable stage in the Business
syllabus. When school closes we will meet more often.

I would be grateful if you could please tell me some useful hints for
covering the syllabus, should my tuition teacher go by the Textbook or
Syllabus? I would also be grateful if you could provide me with the
latest scheme of work as the ones on the revision notes section are a
little old (no rudeness intended). Please tell me everything my
teacher would need to be aware of about this syllabus, as he teaches
Edexcel normally but is an amazing teacher, and is very adaptible. He
teaches Business, Economics and Accounting.. My tuition teacher in my
mind replace my class teacher.

He will be providing me with a full set of notes as my class notes
will become redundant..

Thanks for the help

Yours simultaneously thankful, begging and gratefully.

Zain,
Greetings Mr. Zain,
Your posting to this group does not seem to be pure ethical. Your have every
right to express your feelings but regard and respect of elders and
especially teachers must be a priority of every student. So, I hope next
time your words will be expressive but not gross.
Peter Stimpsons book has been a great resource for teachers all over the
world. There is no harm studying it. It gives you full range of topics and
case studies along with questions to answer.
For what to be studied after unit 1? Marketing or People in organization?
That's not a big problem; plainly what difference does it make? Cambridge
work scheme suggests Marketing after unit one but you may study whatever you
feel better. Teachers around the globe chose whatever order they like based
on their experience, local conditions and need. So, there is no wrong in any
order because ultimately whole syllabus will be covered.
If your teacher has not provided you with the syllabus you could have seen
it and downloaded it from Cambridge website
(http://www.cie.org.uk/qualifications/academic/uppersec/alevel/subject?assde
f_id=735).No big deal.
Notes over BS website and any other resource are all updated and new.
Question is, how do you know what is updated and what is not? When you know
everything then what is the reason that you are accusing your teacher for
depleted resources.
So, at the end I would suggest that study from these notes in conjunction
with Stimpsons book. There are numerous presentations slides available at
website got to the http://sites.google.com/site/bs9707/Home/presentations
link and observe "Purpose Made Unit Wise Presentations" while going through
units from syllabus.
Remember, teacher or website provided notes are not key of your success;
it's your own research and thorough understanding of concepts and
applications.
Review attached image for resources. And also try utilizing BS website
resources.

Dear Sir Mr Rigix,

I am sorry for the bad manners and sheer rudeness I expressed above,
Sir. I just lost my temper, and if you will please forgive me, Sir as
all humans lose their tempers.

I have decided that I am going to take Business tuitions with my
Economics teacher and cover the entire syllabus from back to front
with him. However Sir, I am making every endeavor possible to
understand as much as I am able in class and take down all of my class
teacher's notes. However, today we were meant to have a double period
of business studies and our class teacher taught for about half an
hour and then told us to do what we liked for the remaining hour and a
half. I have left a copy of Stimpson's textbook with my Economics
teacher. However, Sir, after checking the syllabus most thoroughly and
your revision notes topic, there is one topic which i fail to find. It
is also not present in Mr Stimpson's textbook. It is called The
Internet. It also does not appear in the Schemes of Work posted above.
May I humbly ask if those schemes of work have not been updated as
they say at the bottom of them UCLES Copyright 2003. Also, I would be
most grateful if you could please provide us with a short summary of
the topic 'The Internet' in Business and the Environment, or if you
don't have the time could you please tell me what is required in that
topic?

Last question. My Economics teacher is also a Business teacher and
when I showed him the Stimpson book yesterday, he called me half an
hour ago to say it is an amazing textbook. Can I rely on it that it
covers all topics in the specification apart from The Internet?

Many Thanks Sir,

Once again I apologize for the rudeness expressed above but my BS
teacher often is often rude to me. We are a class of 7. Today he told
me he wanted me to shave my moustache and goatee which I have only
just grown. He says if it is not shaved he will chuck me out of his
business studies class. However, the headmaster may have to give our
class teacher a stern talking to. It is a very small school, so in
this case the students are the priority.

Greetings,
Good to know that you have realised. There are numerous presentations
slides available at
website got to the http://sites.google.com/site/bs9707/Home/presentations
link and observe "Purpose Made Unit Wise Presentations" for "The
Internet" part.
Go on with these notes and Stimpsons, do your own research, analyze
newspapers and relate business and economy news to what you have
studies. Also visit case studies at the site.
Best of luck,
Administrator.
