 To Board of directors;

I have reviewed the proposed  budget and see there is a 21+% increase in quarterly amounts required of the owners.

I believe this is an excessive increase and can place a burden on many owners. The 2017 budget was decreased due to HOA dropping the Comcast contract which owners then had to pay individually. I realize many owners have complained about the condition of the community, however we had to endure a lot of hurricane damage and it takes time to recover from that. Here are some of the items that I believe can be revised:

sod, plants,rock, miscellaneous-$35000

this is way too much and the dry season is coming. we do not have the water resources to support watering in dry season. I                     suggest reducing this to 20k and plant drought resistant plants in a limited amount until the next rainy season.

holiday decorating-$2000

not needed- you already have the Royals wrapped in lights. Put a couple bows on the gates.

grounds maintenance-$5000

I see no need for this since you have a landscape contract that has gone way up

rodent control-$1872

I have never seen anyone put bait in the containers. try every 6 months instead of every month

legal-$5000

put the amount that was spent this year which was much less

There are a lot of maintenance contracts in the budget. I wonder if we get our moneys worth for these.

In summary, I think you should find ways to reduce the increase to no more than 12%

thank you for listening

I agree Nancy.  Too much too fast.  We need to spread it out over a longer period of time.  21% increase is unacceptable.

I usually agree with this board and understand fully the need to increase dues over time.  I have to, in this case, agree with Nancy.  She did not just complain like many, but actually broke it down by expense and I think it makes very good sense what she had to say.  Particularly the need to insure those who are being paid are doing as they are supposed to.

Thanks Nancy and I hope the board gives your recommendation heavy consideration.  It makes a very good compromise.

I agree. So where do we go from here?

Yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery, today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.

My opinion is we turn up at the meeting and tell them that we want to vote as a community on this budget not just three people controlling our future and levying an increase of 21%
Thanks
